Drug Touted by Trump Can Easily Kill You

The drug touted by the U.S. President Donald Trump as a possible line of treatment against the coronavirus comes with severe warnings in China and can kill in dosages as little as two grams.

China, where the deadly pathogen first emerged in December, recommended the decades-old malaria drug chloroquine to treat infected patients in guidelines issued in February after seeing encouraging results in clinical trials. But within days, it cautioned doctors and health officials about the drug’s lethal side effects and rolled back its usage.

This came after local media reported that a Wuhan Institute of Virology study found that the drug can kill an adult just dosed at twice the daily amount recommended for treatment, which is one gram.

As the drug hasn’t been approved by the U.S. Food And Drug Administration to treat the disease known as Covid-19, the Chinese experience may be useful as the American regulator studies the medication which has been endorsed by Trump as well as Tesla Inc. chief executive officer Elon Musk.

Trump needed to feel better about himself, so he told a little white lie. Okay, not so little. Not really a white lie. All right, so he passed along wrong information that could have lethal consequences. Boo hoo. Needy Amin can't hold his rallies right now, and he needs that hit of adulation. Sure, a few people will die following his reckless comment, but that's a risk Trump is willing to take in pursuit of better approval numbers. Everyone just lighten up!

Look for this fatuous argument soon from a wingnut or a trollbot near you!

that risk would have been acceptable. Probably why there are other meds for it now.

BTW Trump discussing the use of a quinine malaria drug for C-19 was so over the top bad it made me gag but then
he added, "some people use the term hydroxy" (about this drug too) ….. Please mother fucker! Trump wouldn’t know
what was in a hydroxyl group if you spotted him the hydrogen and oxygen.

5. That is why controlled testing is needed

With any drug treatment, the first step is to establish safety.

People don't get why a vaccine should take so long, but we are talking about injecting something into what may turn out to be a majority of the human species. It would be good to know, in the context of a new drug, whether it will make someone drop dead a year later.

With this treatment, there's a reason why it is not the front-line anti-malarial it used to be. That said, you are again talking about dosing a huge number of people than is normal for this drug, which will bring adverse indications into stark relief but, more importantly, the next step after "safety" is "effectiveness".

At what stage of infection is it most effective? Is there a stage of infection at which it is ineffective, or even counterproductive?

If doctors just run around "doing stuff" to people, then it can take longer to find out what works and in what protocol, and they can end up doing more harm.

7. Another deadly side-effect is SUICIDE

Good job dump spreading FAKE information, information that many will blindly believe and follow.

How many will DIE from this B.S "cure" that has NOT BEEN ENDORSED BY THE FDA for treatment of COVID-19?

For those posting that this is a potential cure, please go back and do some research. There is NONE that will validate anything about how an old malaria drug that has been tweaked a bit will help in the least and may lead to suicide or other highly negative side-effects!

JUST STOP IT ALREADY PLEASE!

8. Article still seems to indicate the drug is likely useful for patients with no other alternatives.

That would generally be hospitalized patients where the dosage is controlled and patients are monitored.

I don't think it was intended as an over-the-counter -- or commonly prescribed -- medication for home use because you coughed.

10. I know exactly where his claim came from...

Occasionally, I used to look at UFO/alien junk online, but nothing popped up that would go anywhere. Around the 2016 election, I noticed a spike of anti-Obama, pro-Russian, anti-Dem, and NSA/Justice Dept. attacks on a site called 'Project Camelot.' That was 2016 and as time played out, I seen perfectly what Russia and the republicans were doing, because the republicans always seemed to fall in line with what they were saying.

The way they got people to buy in, was that they claimed there were 'white hats' and 'black hats' in the government keeping things covered up... Naturally the 'white hats' were the republicans, Putin and the Russians, and anyone who fell into their liking that disrupted those they opposed. The 'black hats' were President Obama, anything Democratic, and the NSA/Justice Dept. prior to tRUMP. When you fast forward to tRUMP, look at who tRUMP has claimed were really the dishonest ones with wild conspiracies and cues. And it was bizarre how tRUMP seemed to follow in tandem with what I had previously seen on the site. So for the last few years, I would venture over to that site just to see what was coming from the imbecile party in charge of the WH and Senate.

Well, a few weeks ago there was an interview with someone that claimed the COVID-19 could probably (he had treated no cases) be cured with his easy cure for malaria and he had an exact recipe. He went on to claim that a lot of illnesses were hoaxes that could be easily treated and cured with his magic cure-all potion. I am not a chemist, so I am lost on the element terms etc, but he was saying that it had to basically be a careful mixture of chlorine to purify water and a few other ingredients to arrive at his cure-all potion. I seen that tRUMP mentioned something similar last night, which got my attention.

If that stupid orange anus has been pulling shit off internet conspiracy sites all along for the last 3 years, we are totally fucked in this country.

Many drugs will "easily kill you" if your overdose. So, don't take more than one gram per day...
