I took a tip from all the Latinos in line at a little store in downtown LA, they all had packages of paper napkins. I guess they'll work but I'm not flushing them, emergency plumber visit now will probably cost $1000s.

I buy the big packs at Costco and buy 2 whenever they go on sale. I did buy 2 additional ones just before the shit really hit the fan.

I gave some to my son when he returned back to his college town. I suggested that he tuck the toilet paper under his sports gear in the car so he doesn’t get it stolen when he stops for gas.

There’s been a run on TP now for at least two weeks. The issue where I live is that it’s not being restocked.

Grocery store chain here has cut hours. People are in line before the doors open. My sister was one of the first inside earlier this week and there was no TP. So it had not been restocked from the night before.

6 large rolls (10" diameter) for $42 from Amazon. Free shipping. Online restaurant supply stores had them for a bit lower price but then wanted to charge about $30 shipping. Maybe I should have gotten a 2nd case as well. I tried to stay with 1 or 2 ply. Three and 4 ply can clog the pipes around here. Found that out when staying in a VRBO rental owned by a British couple. She had warnings to her European guests in her 'welcome' notebook that US plumbing wasn't quite up to the diameter piping as Euro/Brit plumbing.

There is no shortage of material to produce TP, but the trucking system is not geared to meet the rate of buying by hoarders.
I am hoping withing 2 weeks, hoarders would have no more room to store more TP, and will stop raiding the stores.

I order it online for free delivery because 3 packs of TP fills up my whole cart and my car...much easier to get it delivered. Our Costco has been out of it for weeks. They might get a random pallet or two but it is gone in minutes according to an acquaintance of mine who works there. I ended up finding a case of it via a business where I buy our packaging supplies. I'll divide up the case between my home and two work places. If everyone would just buy what they need there wouldn't be a shortage.

A lot of stores are receiving TP products but are putting out cases in the morning which are picked out clean within 30 minutes.

This is the case in my local Kroger grocery. They put out about 25 cases of various TP products, open the doors, and everyone gets 2-3 packages.

comes down to it toilet paper is not necessary for human survival. The human race survived for centuries before toilet paper was invented.

My local supermarket is reserving their store for seniors only from 7 to 9 AM three days a week. When I went there Thursday morning they did have toilet paper in four packs, limit two packs per customer.
