I was wrong my wife isn't trying to kill me, she is just cleaning out the larder. Stuff that is two years past it's freshness date is probably OK. Last night Mrs. Gibraltar says we might not make two weeks. We're gonna need milk and eggs. I say as best I can remember mmmfff. So this morning I say ok if we were going to go someplace to shop where would you go? Mrs. Gibraltar replies ah were good for another two weeks or at least until April. I suspect she watched local news last night.

We always snickered when my in-laws would give us 7 year old corn, but I'm not sure I'd turn it down now.

(366 posts)for the chicken coop. Looks like my girls might become a lot more valuable as this goes on.
Was thinking the same but we are now both home all day.
The human door to their hen house has an actual keyed lock on it. The human door to their enclosed coop does not. But I dont think anyone can fit through the chicken sized door in between.
And our 80lb dog is alert to noises all night. He sleeps in our bedroom; the coop is visible outside the windows along one side.
So mostly Ive decided not to worry.
And Im totally up for baby chicks this year- if my main broody hen goes broody. I enjoyed raising day old chicks last year but Id rather she take on the work this year. Wilco has baby chicks all summer so I should be able to tuck some under her one night.
Ill be ready for more eggs next year. Might run out of perch space tho.

(13,783 posts)... Tuesdays and Thursdays as only for people 65 and over. I think that might be a help as that group have probably been self isolating for a long time, as a whole, and are probably less likely to be infected without symptoms. I'm going to take advantage of it. You might inquire. We saw this in some obscure news outlet.
Today a neighbor e-mailed me that she was going to the super market. Did I need anything? So I had her get me milk and OJ.

I'm dropping to 200 cals a day immediately and counting every nut.

(31,402 posts)at the Dollar General a block from my apartment. Got milk, grapes, a head of lettuce, couple of potatoes, an avocado and chocolate! I don't need eggs yet, since I still have a dozen in the fridge.
They even had a couple of packages of TP on the shelf!
There was no one else in the store except people stocking shelves. No line to checkout. Didn't hear anyone cough.
My freezer is packed. Between canned goods and what's in the freezer I have enough to last at least 2-3 weeks without having to make a trip to a regular grocery store.
I did make a big pot of chicken soup last week that lasted several days and I have the ingredients to do it at least 3 more times. Besides, chicken soup cures everything, right?
Hang in there!
