https://www.latimes.com/business/story/2020-03-20/tough-guy-culture-coronavirusAs the coronavirus exploded around the world last week, people who work on the trading floor inside Goldman Sachs Group Inc.s Manhattan skyscraper caught fevers.
One of them, a managing director, rattled colleagues while trying to decide whether to stay at the office. The executive went home, came back to work Monday, then left again with chest pains. Meanwhile, an associate who woke up with a fever worried about letting down bosses but stayed away.
This wasnt a Goldman Sachs problem. Wall Streets nonstop aggressiveness is clashing with the demands of a deadly pandemic. As government officials, doctors and companies tell people around the world to stay home, interviews with bankers and traders inside the industrys giants show many feel torn between public health and private profit.
Toxic masculinity kills. So does uncontrolled greed.

(51,004 posts)7. Someone should tell them coronavirus causes shrinkage.
There would probably be an immediate move to isolation
Because if you get your masculinity from impressing a bunch of dim Biffs, you probably don't have much to spare.

(10,916 posts)6. Dumb question - Can they just halt trading for weeks/months?
We've halted it for a few days here and there because of other unfortunate events.
Would weeks/months even be possible?
