Being at home is something I am used to, however.....

We are being told now by the Governor of California, Gavin Newsom, to not go out unless its absolutely critical. I do have access to food Delivery; GrubHub, DoorDash, or what ever other aps there are. I can even have my Cannabis delivered..(Last time they sent out a pretty lady in a hazmat suit, to deliver the jars of Indica that I ordered.)

I have to say staying at home is something I am used to...I don't venture out much, except to do shopping at the beginning of the month or occasional trips to the hospital to see my doctors which, of late I have not done, for where better to catch the Virus, than visiting a hospital?

Though its funny to me (not humorous..but funny as in strange--in Japanese: chotto hena)
that even now if I were to venture out, I would most likely find the city a Ghost town with many shops closed with only a few places being open. I am sure Safeway is open, along with banks, and even my Medical Marijuana supplier is working during this crisis , though I would imagine business is down for many companies in the city.

They say it will take 8 weeks or so to clear this. That is not good for people off work, but for some of us...its business as usual, in that we are still doing the same thing we normally do
every day. Its just scary to think that 60% of Californians will come down with this virus. 8 weeks is a long, long time to emerge from ones house and do anything outside.

I recently got my new scooter to travel locally with, but I can't go anywhere because most places are closed. Even just driving around Stonestown Galleria (Mall) would be impossible since most places at the mall are likely closed and the mall doors locked.

San Francisco is a tourist town. Tourism is our main source of making money in the city, yet
I am sure no one is flying unless it's absolutely necessary and still there might be a person
on the plane who has the virus..

Life is going to be very different and Strange the next 8 weeks. Fortunately most of my friends are on line..so if we go to a chat room to listen to music and dance...the only
chance to catch a virus is if someone introduces a computer virus to the conversation but that rarely happens.. Still I have noticed an uptick in people playing more on line video
games from their PS4 or Xbox. With more people home, and not working, people are
spending a lot of time playing video games or watching movies.

Today was a very beautiful sunny day outside, but like many people, I am taking the warning
seriously and staying at home. If I need stuff, I have people I can call and get what I need.
I have tried to slow down visiting nurse visits..because of all the people who can get the virus
its first responders and visiting nurses.

I have a small bottle of hand sanitizer though I guess since I am not going out much, I don't need it unless I do go out. But right now there is no reason to go anywhere.

I guess that''s the strange thing is knowing that so many people are spending the next 8 weeks at home. I just hope they can afford it. I get monthly checks so I am doing
okay but others may not be doing that well. Maybe they need more visits from
the cute lady in the Hazmat Suit.

I am a writer/editor by trade. But, I'm used to coming and going as I please. A few years ago, I started teaching water aerobics at a local gym; I've taken the classes for a decade so I figured why not?

Now I'm home all the time, and so is SO (public school teacher). It just feels odd to not go out when I want to.

I'm going to get my grocery order from my local Walmart tomorrow afternoon. I'm looking at it as a big outing!

Everytime you post about the City you make me homesick.

In fact, right before this, I was cranking this song super loud and dancing and singing along, and I got some welling up in the eyes I must say ...

My folks are about 20 miles east of you ... also all locked down of course.

Spoke to my moms this AM ... she was a bit bummed cause they've lost a TON of $$$ in the last 3 weeks ... also she gets stir-crazy pretty easy. 'Errands' and 'Planning Trips' are like her life. So she definitely haz a sad ...

I don't dislike the Giants and I love 'Pac Bell' park, but the A's, Raiders, and Dubs are mah boys.

If you like sing-along vids in general ... this one is pretty freaking awesome ... and hey, Bay Area connection here

but they moved to Las Vegas. The warriors are okay though I prefer the Lakers. As for the A's I used to have season tickets but switched over from the American League to the National League and the Giants. My favorite AL team are the Anaheim Angels. I also like the Sharks and Mighty Ducks of Anaheim.

My dad got me into sports teams early...I attended my first Giants game when Dusty Baker
was the team manager (1993–2002) in 1993 I was 6 years old and actually remember the
Giants AND those on the team that year:

Barry Bonds
John Burkett
Will Clark
Royce Clayton
Kirt Manwaring
Dave Martinez
Willie McGee
Robby Thompson
Matt Williams
Barry Bonds hit a home run that game...it was a splash down outside the stadium. I don't remember who they played but it was a fun game. It might have been a DODGERS-GIANTS game, cause the Giants won in the 9th inning with a Bonds HR.

Since I moved to South Texas to take care of my mom (she passed a few years back, but I stayed).

I live in a closed community. Not gated, but the houses form a circle around the entire block, with the front doors facing to an inside court yard.

In the court yard there are trees, gazebos, and pools which, this being South Texas, are available to residents year round.

In days when the weather is cool like today, we open the 'front door' and on the opposite end of the apartment, open the garage door that leads to the street, and let the air flow freely through the apartment.

My office sits near the garage facing a sliding glass door that leads to a private mini court yard with potted plants.

My wife and I live here, and we cook most days, rarely venturing to the restaurants. Frankly, the food we cook is better, healthier, and less expensive.

For us, there is no change to our routine. We worry about our kids who do work in the food industry, and appreciate the tremendous risk they face serving the public, as well as the uncertainty of their jobs.

I've got one niece who is bagging restaurant meals for pick-up service but the tips are not there and she doesn't know how long the restaurant will remain open.

My extended family is extremely high drama, my side, and my wife's side, but we do look out for one another when the shit is hitting the fan.

The shit is hitting the fan.

The Amazon Treasure Truck used to be at Stonestown. Not anymore, though.

We've only gone out to Safeway and for walks in the park and around the block with the dogs. The coffee shop on 8th Ave has walk up service & we chat with neighbors at a distance. The huge Observation wheel (aka Ferris) is under construction across the street from us in the park, so we've walked over to watch the process. Thank goodness for the Internet!

Yesterday I went for a walk....
(think N95 woodcarving mask, bandana, and goggles with hoodie up)
because the dog made me take him.
I keep telling him there’s a global pandemic happening but he says he doesn’t care.
He just sighs at me.

which quickly turns into this weird kind of humming thing he does.
And if I don’t respond with what he wants he gets disgusted with me and lets
me know by a quick huff/sigh.
Then too, we may both have been in the house too long.
I’m thinking if I survive all this, I may be speaking dog.
Up is down right now.

Beyond an accidental exposure which would likely kill me, I fear we may see a serious uptick in crime as more people become economically distressed. In addition, our police are only responding to life-threatening emergencies. Vandals and petty thieves may run amok.

So, we probably need to up our security awareness around our homes and vehicles.....

For over 40 years, my job has taken me to a different country almost every day.

The stress, the perks, and the stimulation of a constant change of scene are things that have become second nature to me by now. Confined to our pretty little town, I am not really at a huge disadvantage. We have the castle out back, and a large park that has trails going on for miles. Still, it's more than a little weird. I still talk to my colleagues on the phone, but all my work is necessarily done on location, so I am dead in the water, workwise. If this is a foretaste of retirement, I think I'm pushing my planned retirement age (80) back by ten years.

By the way, here is a song my brother turned me on to over 30 years ago. It's called "Tourist Town:"
