Aviation Enthusiasts; Some things go away and never come back. ATC recording of the last Concorde..

departure from JFK, October 24, 2003.

I don't know why this struck me today. Perhaps it's because an Air New Zealand flight looks to have taken it's last departure from London Heathrow today.....

Maybe its because I'm just melancholy and a wee bit concerned for what's coming. QANTAS halting all its international flights. Emirates halting flights to a third of its destinations, and on and on.

Anyway, for whatever reason, the above tweet reminded me of this recording of the JFK controllers saying goodbye to "Speedbird Concorde 2" as it taxied and departed for the last time and it just made me tear up! You can hear the professional respect between the guys in the tower and those "In the Sharp End".
