Have you noticed more sirens lately? (Original Post) Demonaut Mar 2020 OP
Maybe less ambient traffic noise has unmasked them? ZZenith Mar 2020 #1

Here, I would say we have much fewer because we have much less traffic.

I'm not sure an ambulance would go lights and siren on a COVID patient unless they were in respiratory failure or close to it.

One year getting together with former co-workers for a Christmas lunch I mentioned that in my neighborhood there had been hyper sirens activity with ambulances past my house to where some elderly people (more than one family) lived, and this seemed to be tied to the stress of holiday commercial activity on the tv.

And it's happening now, too. But over the years, it seems that there are flare-ups of noise from emergency vehicles, like the young cops and such get into frenzies at times. Or their frenzies reflect the populace frenzies.

In fact, if anything I'm hearing fewer sirens than usual. Most of the ones I hear are responses to car accidents, and with fewer people on the road, there are going to be fewer accidents. Plus, with bars and restaurants closed, fewer drunk drivers are driving.

And, not to hijack the thread, I found myself wondering whether there will be fewer home burglaries during this upcoming stay-at-home period because the homes aren’t vacant. Those poor burglars are going to have to go on unemployment.

They moved all the trucks and personnel to the one fire house in middle off Fairfax city.... the amount of sirens by my house has doubled.

Haven't heard nearly as many as usual for the past week or so. More people staying home, a lot fewer people on the roads, bars closed. I would guess that most of what we hear normally are for auto accidents and drunk incidents.

I'm retired and doing stuff at home most days, and have noticed that the traffic has been a fraction of normal on our usually busy street.
