Zoom is an amazing service.

We have friends in northern Italy who are more like family than friends. Some live in Milan and others in a small town in the Piemonte region. Obviously we are very anxious about their wellbeing. We just finished a Zoom teleconference with them that included our family in Washington state and Los Angeles, nine locations and seventeen people in all. We even drank a little wine.

We don’t know if we will all survive this nightmare but, for forty minutes, we were all together and it seemed so normal. We laughed, almost to tears. We joked about normal things. We watched the newest addition to our Italian “family” take his first steps.

I hope the system doesn’t collapse from overuse. We will continue meeting as long as we are able. Hopefully, we can all be together again when we get beyond this horrible moment.

He’s teaching from home using Zoom. His school has a partnership with the government of China and almost half of his students are Chinese. It’s a strange new world.

Isn’t technology amazing? I am so grateful.
Just thinking that I was not happy my kid was playing Fortnite & Minecraft online & via WiFi, but now, since the kids are stuck at home, it’s fantastic!
