MAYBE the republicans (some anyway) are purposefully giving the Dems (and themselves) a way out:

Call in sick and give the Dems a majority.

"Hey, we're tired of this shit too, but we ain't got the balls to vote on it directly, so for the next couple weeks you got the reigns."

of still keeping a majority. The early birds got the worms. Everyone else is going to be pressured into not quarantining.

McTurtle would do anything, endanger anybody, even bodily drag one of his senators on a ventilator into the chamber, in order to keep his majority at all times.
