Why is Trump so indecisive about using the Defense Production Act?

Does anyone have any idea?

Is he just indecisive? He doesn't want to make a decision because he would have to be responsible for it?

What happened to transparency?

I’m usually not one for conspiracy theories but I’ve thought that maybe he’s not helping out because it’s mostly coastal blue states that are affected so far. I wouldn’t put it past him.

You don't go to McDonalds and tell them to make ventilators. You go to companies that have the technology and the capabilities and ask them.

companies can continue to charge obscene prices for PPE equipment. Really criminally obscene prices. An eighty cent mask can be sold for five dollars. Companies can profit off this disaster. I guess that's not possible if Trump pulls the trigger on the Authority.

from the most generous perspective to him, he has decided that we're better off with a few eager volunteers than a bunch of conscripts, to put it simply. He will try to sell that philosophy as soon as one of his underlings finds a way to put it on a teleprompter.

companies in comparison to the failure of Venezuela. Implying that he is conflating Marxism with a temporary federal emergency order to bring vital production under national control to meet the threat to the whole country.

He knows his cult followers would tar and feather him as a Socialist if he ordered a some manufacturing company to stop producing beer and start making hand sanitizers. Ordering hotels to convert to hospitals, recovery or hospice centers would affect his hotels and impact his profits, so he's not going to do anything that would cost him or affect his investment portfolio.

Let someone else deal with it. It's the governors' problem.
