General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsTHANK YOU Ali Velshi and all of the MSNBC staff for working so hard and so honestly
to keep us informed. Those of us who WANT to be informed, that is. I wish you could reach everyone.
Ali was on the air very early this AM and surely was preparing several hours before that. He must be exhausted, but here he is on live TV doing a great job as always.
We appreciate it! You are saving lives and may be saving the nation.

Quit to go to Current, al Gore. He was asked why he said he wanted to be a real Journalist. Al sold to Aljazeera. I watched Ali all the time. I am so glad he is on MSNBC but worry they are spreading him too thin.

(86,646 posts)but he's a good journalist and MSNBC isn't his only gig. He is on at least two NPR programs that I listen to. I think the scheduling is somewhat by choice and he may just be a workaholic.

(34,457 posts)She recently had a baby, so my guess is that he had not planned to work tonight and probably would prefer not to, but wanted to help her to make sure she would be OK and that she did not put her family at risk. No question he works hard (probably too hard) all the time.

(17,985 posts)Explain why he left a very successful show on CNN to go with a start up that is when I knew Ali had the ethics of a true Journalist.
He would be perfect to replace Todd on MTP. I wonder if that may not be why he is on Weekends. There are rumors the PTB are not happy with Todd. Gregory was better.

(86,646 posts)It's pretty difficult to be worse than Gregory! I suspect he could be the next MTP host. That show has been an icon over the yeas,I wonder if they'll keep it. Regardless, Velshi is a widely respected voice these days. I don't always agree with his views but he's very articulate and well reasoned at all times.

(86,646 posts)Katy Tur and Rachel Maddow cry during their shows the other day, Friday? The man was only 61.
Yeah, I think there will be no mercy from them anymore.

(16,738 posts)Matthews as he was pretty good for the last year or more. Hayes, Maddow and O'Donnell are all excellent. What I've seen on some other networks is really poor. And of course the media fawning is what put him in there, with some Ruski help of course. But that never happened as Barr has dismissed Mueller's indictment of the St. Petersburg troll farms orchestrating the pro-Drumpf/ anti-H propaganda. But I digress...

I remember Howard Dean's saying he had no idea how hard it was to do what these hosts do, until he guest hosted. And that's with a normal workday.

(4 posts)I haven't really had an opportunity to watch Ali Velshi in the past, but tonight I was watching and made a comment to my hubby on how impressive he is.
He understands finance and can deconstruct the bullshit.
His presence is vital right now. We are so lucky to have someone like him on our side.
I'm going to send him a thank you note .
