(18,890 posts)When I learned ppl were contagious for a week or more before symptoms I added about half a week of provisions per weekly shopping trip. I live an hour away from any grocery store - so I always have a 'prepared pantry'. No cray for my first 1.5 months of adding some extra staples.
When I went to the store for a few quick essentials on an errand run 2 weeks ago I saw my first attack of the cray-crays. Fortunately no one had bought out the GF pasta I need (too expensive , but there was no sauce - the pasta aisle had pasta and a couple bottles of sauce broken on the floor.
Every time I go into town with the truck I load up with compost now - cuz eventually the cray crays will try to load up on that too - with dump trucks. The piles are already depleting.
I get 2 truckloads of compost every year, but this year it is 4, and I stocked up on straw bales to have ammendments for my clay soil.

(36,314 posts)My biggest shopping trip was when my local supermarket had a two day sale on meat and chicken and I spent $194 to restock the chest freezer which was getting low.

(4,393 posts)lots of pantry staples and stuff for the freezer; pancake mix and syrup, small treats like mini-chocolate bars, soup makings. Even a few treats. I have flour, yeast, a breadmaker to do the heavy lifting, and lots of time. We can always order in perishable side salads - still have sauce from last summer's garden and easy freezer cuke (home-grown) pickles - We are good for perhaps two months with good variety.

(11,443 posts)$300.00 on prescriptions to last me until July. Would have spent more on food, but I always keep a few weeks in stock during normal times.

(25,183 posts)about two weeks ago. A bit of supplemental shopping since then, but on Monday and Tuesday of last week, there wasn't a lot to be had. We did a Costco run a bit more than half a month ago, while our store was still pretty well stocked, and not too many people there just yet.
