I must point this out; Trump is freaking out about the economy, BUT

he is not doing the most important thing he could do in order to stabilize the economy. He is not using the full power of the federal government to stop the spread of the virus and to supply the healthcare workers, hospitals with everything they need so the healthcare system does not break down. His hesitation, His inaction is the biggest threat against the economy.

This failure by Trump could lead to an uncontrollable spread of the virus which in turn would devastate the economy for the long term.

To tell you the truth I am not surprised, that's how the mind of a narcissist works. It destroys itself. There is a good chance many, many Americans are going to die if someone does not convince Trump to use the full power of the federal government to stop the spread.

If Obama were still president he would be using all his power to stop the spread and he would be LEADING a world wide effort against this virus.

Exactly right. Trump should be throwing everything he can at this. Instead, he has FUBARed so badly.

This NEVER would have happened under BHO and will not happen under President Biden.

The competent pandemic office would have set the alarm last year and acted quickly to prevent the outbreak in China. COVID19 would have been laid to rest in 2019. Also, crucial supplies would have been ready just in case.

President Obama is not only exceedingly intelligent, but he also has an actual sense of self efficacy and self worth. What we see with Trump aside from being stupid is this profound need to avoid blame. This is actually what is causing much of his stupid behavior. He can't allow anyone else to appear smarter than he is. He can't allow anything to point the finger at his actions or inaction. He has been working hard to cover things up, to stifle opinions, and to keep himself painted as this heroic figure.

President Obama never had to struggle with that. He was okay stepping back and letting other get air time and take credit for their work. President Obama was there helping to coordinate things or helping to just be a calming presence. He didn't need it to be about him and so he could get out of the way and focus on his particular part of the solution.

Trump's tool box is extremely limited in terms of character traits and actions. He bullies, blames, evades, and pumps himself up. That is it. He has no other responses.

President Obama would have activated the Pandemic Response Team, would have coordinated with Governors around measures to stop the spread. Would have worked with FEMA and HHS to make sure all hospitals had sufficient PPE, and would have been out front calming people while exhorting them to follow protocols while allowing the real experts to talk about the virus and responses needed.

He doesn’t understand how truly earn Nobility through good works. Like the Nobel Peace Prize, he falsified an application to get nominated and bribed others to vote influence the process.
If he earnestly did everything he could to protect lives here and abroad, without concern for credit or fail, the accolades would fall into his lap and he would get the grand parade that he dreams of and the Stock market would respond accordingly.
Bannon was correct saying this could be Trumps finest hour, but it isn’t within Trumps comprehension or ability.
He feels that heros are built by public relations, not by acting heroically.

Since the market first cratered it’s seemed clear that the inept leadership of this administration has caused the economy to falter. No one in the media has connected the lack of leadership and the market failure that I’ve heard or read. The MSM is largely cowardly and culpable. We need to be clear that Trump’s inaction is the root cause of Wall Street’s tumble and that a massive corporate slush fund is NOT the answer.

19. The Messaging Coming Out Of The WhiteHouse Today
Mon Mar 23, 2020, 06:13 PM

Is purely insane. Trump is messaging that after the 15 day period for social distancing and for people staying home could end the program, saying the cost of the shutdown can't exceed the cost for reopening things up. Kudlow echoed that message and the Surgeon General said that ventilators cannot end the crisis, only mitigation can do that. Geez.

Trump wants 99 million to get sick and the Surgeon General is more interested in covering up for Trump's incompetence on ventilator availability as he is with keeping people from getting sick. You have to do both. You need the ventilators to keep people alive and you need mitigation (people staying home) to protect those not yet sick.

No wonder handing these people a mic results in crowded beaches and other sites. The irresponsibility is off the scale.
