In my view, a combination of Fox propaganda, and an educational system that prioritizes memorization of selected memes rather than critical thinking.

Many history books are written to please the Texas market, and what results is not really history, but a very right wing narrative.

And that "America first, America best" narrative is a large part of the problem.
