Even the crucial mini-cupcakes with sprinkles (for my wife) and chocolate-drizzled old-fashioned donuts.
Having now consumed one of the latter, I feel much safer...

(146,329 posts)for lunch. Oddly, the lunch-sized section of the freezer in the store was thinly stocked, except for those spinach pizzas. So, I bought three of them for her this week.
I noticed that the canned tuna was in short supply, but there was plenty of canned salmon and canned mackerel, which is tuna, too. I saw the canned oysters, but neither of us likes those. I didn't buy any of that, because we have several cans of tuna on hand. One day this week, I will make a batch of tuna salad for sandwiches. Last night, I used up some eggs to make egg salad for sandwiches. I don't much care for egg salad sandwiches, but my wife likes them. It was their road trip food when she was a child. She said that my egg salad was much better than her mother's. I know her mother's cooking. I'm sure she was right.
A couple of weeks ago, the store was sold out of canned beans. I turned around, though, and looked at the Hispanic foods side of the same aisle, and it was full of canned beans. I bought a can of pinto beans and a can of black beans, along with a can of "Mexican rice." Burrito bowls will be on the menu soon.

It's really good.

(57,204 posts)all the beef, and fortunately spring lamb is good and it looks like its not as expensive as it usually does. Got some new flours I've never even heard of, haven't had canned mackerel in a loooong time and have some pasta to make "hot dish" with.
We're eating well and go out once a week to get produce.

(11,495 posts)to the local store. I had no problems filling my list. The bean shelves had been pretty much been empty the last couple of weeks, this time they were half full. Only thing they didn't have was TP, but I didn't need any.

(25,183 posts)has been jonesing for Ring Dings. I haven't been able to find them on my few forays out into supermarket land. She may have to settle for my baking a pan of brownies.
MineralMan
(146,329 posts)She ate one. She just wanted to do something. So, I get the rest of them, I suppose.
I'm not familiar with Ring Dings. Drakes Cakes don't seem to be a thing here in the Twin Cities, I guess.
ETA: I just got off the Drakes Cakes website. They're not distributed in Minnesota. Oh, well.

(25,183 posts)I was not familiar with them, either, having spent most of my adult life in Washington state. But, as a girl growing up in New Jersey, they were a kind of comfort food for her.

(146,329 posts)from their website, though. Perhaps that would be a nice gift for your wife...here's a link:

ETA: Don't tell her you're ordering them, though. Just let them show up as a surprise.

(25,183 posts)I did just that! Ordered five boxes of them, and it was only a five buck delivery charge, not bad.
When we were in Costco about three or four weeks ago stocking up, she asked me to look for Hershey bars while she waited in line. Sadly, I came back to report that all they had was Godiva chocolate, and she said, "Forget it, I don't need something that fancy-shmancy!" (I did point out that she was a Jersey girl, right?) So, when I hit up the Dollar Tree in our town a week later, right there at the checkout aisle was a five pack of Halloween-sized Hershey bars. She was delighted!
It's good to be good to each other at this time. She's a very social person and I know this confinement is eating away at her. Even her sister (living in the same town) has not been over for a glass or two of cheap white wine for a month, as she has a sizable number of encounters with people both from being a part-time real estate agent and another part-time job as a fundraiser for a local children's charity.
Again, thanks for everything, especially always being a dependable voice of reason here. I may not agree with you completely, but you always cause me to think.

(65,168 posts)Snack stuff is plentiful.
Still no wipes & limited TP. Meats, produce, bread etc. seemed normal.
But, juices still sparse & Gatorade shelf space empty. Since I don't like it, I didn't realize how popular that stuff is.

(146,329 posts)We have plenty of juice here.
The meat reefer shelves were full this morning. We don't eat much red meat these days, though. Too damned expensive. Chicken. I picked up a rotisserie chicken. Three meals come from that for the two of us.
