***** SOUTH KOREA IS NEARLY BACK TO NORMAL !!! ******How South Korea Reined In The Outbreak Without Shutting Everything Down: Link
My Part one is here Link
We could all be back to relative "normal" in the US if Trump wasn't concerned about the numbers going up:
We all could be doing this ...

That life in South Korea has not ground to a complete halt is mostly owing to an early and aggressive response to the covid-19 pandemic. The countrys disease-control authority approved the first test kit for the virus in early February, less than a week after the application was filed. By the time the number of cases began to rise a couple of weeks later, it had the capacity to test thousands of people a day and get results within a few hours from a network of labs across the country.
John Hopkins has South Korea and China infection rate bottomed out - https://www.arcgis.com/apps/opsdashboard/index.html#/bda7594740fd40299423467b48e9ecf6
The same for China, they have unrestricted testing and get back results in hours
What is keeping US from doing what it takes to simulate to some great degree what these countries have done?
Red Dons trade war? ... Trumps need to keep the numbers down? racism?
Bottom line: Time to call our representatives and scream loudly for unrestricted nationwide testing if we want to save the country.
We're on the same path as Italy where a lot of people just keep dying from day to day.
A flat curve helps the hospitals where as a bottomed out infection rate like in SK and China would get us back to some level of normal.

Because we have a horribly evil man in charge.

(52,286 posts)and all the while, his businesses go bankrupt, suppliers and customers and lenders and constituents get burned, whatever. he doesn't care.
all he cares about is that he gets his cut.
he loves debt because it's a freeroll. he wins if it makes money, lenders lose if it doesn't.

(65,134 posts)It's merely floating debt to sustain a lavish lifestyle.
Probably just defining "make money" in different ways.

(52,286 posts)borrowing in bad faith is certainly part of his so-called genius, but in this case i'm just thinking kickbacks and such. no debt involved.
he directs public funds and resources in a way that makes private profit for someone else, that someone else gives donnie a cut one way or another.
consider his latest so-called covid19 briefing that was more like an infomercial. think those companies and ceos aren't funneling money to donnie in exchange, one way or another?

All the grifting, IMO, is to cover debt load.

Something we can do here in the US

(49,027 posts)US hit 100 cases March 2 and SKorea hit it Feb 20, because they found more by doing more testing.
By testing aggressively EARLY, SKorea was able to trace and isolate cases when it was still possible to clamp down on the infection.
tRump mounted a PR campaign against the virus. The virus does not respond to PR campaigns.

(23,962 posts)suppress testing early on to keep the infection numbers low
then
test everyone like crazy once the dying starts to keep the mortality rate low
a completely PR-based solution

(1,439 posts)Say what you want about their testing but tracking individual people by their cellphones would never fly in a western liberal democracy.
South Korea published infected people's location history. China, naturally, simply notified the police if you left quarantine.

(90,348 posts)... but I think a lot of people who test positive would not mind the cell phone tracing.
I thought people here would reject the stay at home orders but was wrong ... people want to get back to normal in 3 - 6 months.
Right now we're no where near SK, we'll see after June what people will put up with
ProfessorGAC
(65,134 posts)Then one could go anywhere untracked?

(90,348 posts)... part like people in the US they're going to cooperate.
We can do such here with even 80% cooperation we could get it done
