Happy day

We're celebrating our 35th wedding anniversary today. Our plan had been to be in GA with our youngest son and his GF and older son and his fiancee were going to try to make it. Then, we were planning a summer trip to Europe where we'd meet up with other family members who would be there at the same time.

Obviously, none of that happened or will happen. Still, we had a lovely time.

Our son arranged a Zoom chat with the kids, their SOs, my siblings, hubby's siblings and a few nieces/nephews. It was all a bit chaotic but fun, lively and so meaningful. We oldsters reminisced about our wedding and loved ones long past. We all caught up with everyone's activities. Niece's fiance was just tested for C19 this afternoon, so there were also worries. Cousin's son is a nurse manager in a hospital in the midwest - other worries.

Still, it was sheer joy seeing everyone's faces. Some of these people we only see every couple of years. I'm seeing at least some silver linings in this mess.

My cousin and her husband were on the chat. They celebrated their 40th early this month with a big to-do. We weren't able to attend but all their guests got there (Philly) and back and several weeks later, no virus cases. They had their party a few days before everything hit the fan.

and I had reservations to go to the beach for the week (NC), but obviously that had to be cancelled. We’re at “stay at home” orders here in PA.

I'm not a big phone call person and mostly communicate with family/friends via text and What's App. These video chats are making us both stop, sit in the garden and relax with family.

Seeing their faces is such a pleasure.

Looks like they were prescient. And yes we're not getting any younger.

BTW, my parents were married for 65 years, were like newlyweds to the end.

Hope you did something special for the day, although a fancy dinner in these times probably was out of the question.

We're trying to support locally owned. 2 dinners gave us enough for the next couple nights.

We heated it back up after the Zoom party.

Seeing the family made it super special. After all these years, that's what it's all about! And, of course, getting ready for retirement.

Thanks, George!

My granddaughter's 30th birthday, my step-daughter's 50th birthday (already passed), our 25th wedding anniversary, and my wife's 70th birthday.

My step-daughter came up with a brilliant idea. In 2021 we will celebrate the completion of the year after these milestone events.

Sounds like a great idea to me.

Our niece has a wedding scheduled in August, our cousin's son in October and our son sometime next year (not scheduled yet). I don't know what, if any, of these events will happen.

The idea of a big, free-for-all would be a great way to celebrate everything.
