"Trump says keeping US Covid-19 deaths to 100,000 would be a very good job "

No, Trump, reacting appropriately would have been a very good job and would have slowed down the growth. Instead, we have a bunch of whackjobs who don't want to close states because reasons and more people are going to die as a result.

(25,471 posts)I've always been skeptical at the claims that his supporters are suddenly going to have an epiphany when people start dying in larger numbers. They're getting their news solely from Trump, Fox News, and other right-wing media, including social media. They'll just blame whatever else is handy, but anything or anyone but Trump.

(25,471 posts)And Biden is up in the polls among independents and in "swing" counties. That's partly why his head-to-head lead, approaching double digits, is pretty significant at this point.

(3,479 posts)in terms of mortality rate. There is NO way to spin that into a win, I don't care what Trump says.

(31,261 posts)And he will craft his lies in such a way that it will be impossible to fully expose him, so there will be room for a surburbanite to conclude that maybe he did do all that he could and didn't make any really serious mistakes.

(3,479 posts)This isn't going help. His mediocre crisis bump is aleady fading.
The United States will likely have the highest COVID-19 death toll of any nation when this is over. That alone will be extremely difficult to sell as a victory. If we also top the world in per capita deaths - forget it. It will be the biggest preventable tragedy in the history of our nation.

(23,343 posts)... Trump will have done a fantastic job, way better than Obama would have done, better than any president ever, better than any world leader anywhere.
You wouldn't believe what a great job he will have done.
