We must decide if we want two Senators who, when they received a private briefing on #COVID19, took that information to make a profit or if we want Senators who actually think about the people first. #gapol

(57,093 posts)Johnny Isakson was reelected in 2016 but had to retire last year due to complication from Parkinson's Disease. His seat was filled by the Governor with Kelly Loeffler but it has to go to an election for the remaining two years on the term.

(83,770 posts)Georgia on my mind....as a key state in the 2020 election.
Two senate seats up for grabs, including one with Loeffler who is neck deep in scandal now. Add to that the potential for a competative Presidential race....it is the reason Abrams has to be included on any vice presidential list.

(13,920 posts)Although my more paranoid thought is that I kinda expect Barr to start a bunch of very quiet investigations into Republicans, specifically so that Trump can issue a whole boatload of last second pardons

(3,282 posts)circumstances are not nearly as damning as Barr and Loeffler if you look at what exactly they did. Buying telecommuting stocks? Pretty bad.
Insider trading is not easy to prove, especially in a case where the information isn't about a specific company but rather a pandemic. Anybody paying attention in late January or early February should have been able to see that it was going to come here.
This, imo, is a much bigger problem politically than legally for them.
