China did not count coronavirus positives if patient had no symptoms: report

China did not include asymptomatic individuals who tested positive for coronavirus in their counts as the number of confirmed cases and deaths from the disease grew worldwide, according to a report from The Wall Street Journal.

A Chinese public health official told the Journal on Tuesday that the country will start reporting asymptomatic carrier starting Wednesday “in order to respond to society’s concern in a timely manner.”

Chang Jile said there are 1,541 asymptomatic carriers of the coronavirus in China, of that group, 205 people recently returned from overseas.

They did NOT count deaths outside of the hospitals either. GemDigger Mar 2020 #3
I kind of look at it the way stats are presented during flu season. LiberalArkie Mar 2020 #4

They didn't shut down a city of millions with a virus this contagious over an extra 1541 carriers.
I'd suggest adding at least 2 zeroes.

Those that died at home or on the streets were not counted.

People catch the flu, some get pneumonia, some die of pneumonia.

Stats for the flu season will show that the person died of pneumonia and not the flu. Well, duh yea he did die of pneumonia but it was caused by the flu.

Kind of like the 17 year old that died. He had Covid-19, but he died from a heart attack.

Wonderfull statistics.
