Has a rationale been put forth from the federal government about...

... WHY they are not coordinating the supply chain????? This is not a rhetorical question of outrage. I just wonder if I've missed something by mostly watching cable on mute.

Note: I'm assuming any rationale would not be rational. I'm just curious about what's being said.

The nearest thing to a coherent rationale has been "that would be socialism".

Apparently we were socialists during WW2.

That the market can handle it. The subtext for me is that he wants his rich corporate buddies to glean as much profit out of the deal as possible. He's also lazy and that would require him to do 1/8" of work. Just MHO.

...and in that context he did use the V-word. So yes, he did say it.

FACT CHECK: Trump Compares Defense Production Act To Nationalization
March 23, 20207:56 AM ET

In his Sunday news briefing on the coronavirus response, President Trump was asked about the Defense Production Act, which the government can use to spur businesses to create needed supplies.

"The fact that I signed it, it's in effect," he said. "But you know, we're a country not based on nationalizing our business. Call a person over in Venezuela, ask them how did nationalization of their businesses work out? Not too well. The concept of nationalizing our business is not a good concept."

The Cold War-era law doesn't nationalize businesses.
