There were two paths -- Greater than before vs Look to the past. America chose the past.

Change vs Fear. America chose Fear.

Accepting the Muslim, the GLBTQ, the refugee, the immigrant as American, as part of our fabric vs some sort of delaying tactic, the view that maybe they aren't. America chose the latter.

Real issues vs "Why do I have to press 1 for English?!", "Say 'MERRY CHRISTMAS' or else I will boycott you", and "Why can't *I* say the n-word?". America chose to stick it's collective fingers in their ears say "LALALA" when someone dared to wish them "Happy Holidays"

America chose to... "own the libs" and now those choice is coming home to roost.
