He lied about friends dying in 911; nobody was ever able to come up with a single name of someone he may have known who died.

He has no friends. Malignant narcissists don't. He may know someone he calls from time to time, but that isn't a friend he would actually give a shit about.

It's a lie. He is trying to gain sympathy. Plain and simple.

He may have it himself, and that would hit him hard, but there is no friend.
