I'm white/Irish, my wife is Puerto Rican and my (adopted) son is black. We have a little family melting pot.

Of course, my 20 year old son thinks entirely different thoughts when you say "pot."

That includes literally all of Europe from my Mother's side.
I felt it might be a way to single out a minority group(s).

Seriously, it doesn't make any difference, you are here, living in this country. Resources must be calculated to respond to needs.

What if your parents were from Mexico or Central America or South America? Even if you were born here would you be happy to see ICE officers at your door? I'm worried about what Trump and Stephen Miller would do to them. Then i realized that the final statistics won't be out until 2021 at least and answered anyway. Not answering would be a form of protest and I chickened out.

Basically it was just who lives in your house, what are their ages, genders and racial origins. No big deal.

Hey, wasn’t there another census thing last year that asked a lot more questions? I thought the census was only every four years. I recall wondering if the last one was trying to flush out undocumented immigrants with questions about how many languages are spoken in your household, etc.

I didn't think about the flushing out of undocumented immigrants. Wow. Maybe that is why my household was "chosen" because we are immigrants.

I'm not sure I particularly liked the question about national origin. I'm second generation American. My kids are third, and the grandchildren are fourth. The fact that my father's parents came from Romania 125 years ago is, frankly, irrelevant. This may be an interesting data point for immigrants and maybe first generation. But after that, we're Americans. That's our national origin. Also, it didn't ask about origin of both sets of parents, so the data is skewed and, imho, meaningless.

I found no questions intrusive or "questionable".

For marital status we marked "same sex husband/wife/spouse". We are domestically partnered, but not married.

I'm cool with that.
