Trump invokes Defense Production Act for ventilator manufacturing
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. President Donald Trump on Thursday invoked the Defense Production Act to aid companies building ventilators for coronavirus patients to receive the supply of materials they need.
In a memo released by the White House, Trump directed the U.S. Health and Human Services secretary to use his authority to help facilitate the supply of ventilator materials for six companies - General Electric Co (GE.N), Hill-Rom Holdings Inc (HRC.N), Medtronic Plc (MDT.N), Resmed Inc (RMD.N), Royal Philips N.V. and Vyaire Medical Inc.

(17,444 posts)The company on Friday evening posted on Facebook that it was looking to hire production members to assist our teams immediate effort with the production of ventilators in Kokomo.
The post came the same day that GM and Ventec, a small Seattle-area company that makes ventilators, announced they were bringing an estimated 1,000 workers back to the Kokomo plant to begin making ventilators, and could start shipping them out as soon as next month.
They were planning to produce at cost without any contract. Trump mentioned GM negatively at one of the pressers. Was the problem no kickback?
