Here come the email scams for face masks

One of our honeypots got this today:

Hey there Buy N95 Face Mask and Medical Face Mask to protect your loved ones from the deadly CoronaVirus. The price begins at $1.49 each. If interested, please visit our site: thefacemask.online Thanks and Best Regards

The domain was registered four days ago (anonymous registrant) and it accepts only PayPal. They're really priced at $55 for each individual mask and it's doubtful you'll really get anything after they get your money. PayPal, of course, has no way to report this fraudulent use of their system.

These are coming from multiple scammers, mostly in China but also from a few other places.

I've also received robocalls that start out with something (with a totally muddled sentence) using the words CDC, coronavirus, and Chinese before it goes into the rest of the recorded message in Mandarin.

There are also scammers (I fortunately haven't started hearing from these yet) calling and acting like a government agency to have you give them information so they can send your check. The government is not going to be calling anyone to get any information like this.

Of course, this has not slowed down the usual flood of "Please don't hang up; we've been trying to contact you regarding your Google business listing" scammers.
