Even with constant bashing from Fox Noise for doing TOO MUCH and for OVERREACTING, her numbers would have reflected what they always reflected during her public carrier, high 60s.

Clinton would have this thing under control worldwide, that's just her every fiber, how she is. She would be consoling those who are losing loved ones, working tirelessly long hours to get first responders everything they need, all the while having to deal with a hostile Russian backed right-wing media machine tugging and nagging at her in every possible way, including an uncooperative Moscow Mitch McConnell, possibly the most evil man that ever lived.

but a better relationship with China including having that embedded CDC pandemic training scientist in China could very well have made a difference. Also having an NSC that recognized that pandemic threats have a high priority, and an executive who would be willing to listen to their advice. We were basically blind to potential threats.

Also travel bans would have been far more palpable without the xenophobic history or the xenophobic rhetoric associated with the one smart thing Trump did (which was still a half measure) in this entire crisis - limiting travel from China.

This is not a shot at here.

Repeat, this is not a shot at her.

But, out of gates she would be locked in the reverse of the jackass at best 56 to 44, cause the same zombie base who is sticking behind him 100 percent would be against her 100 percent.

But, beyond that, the same reason she lost the election would be in play for her approval, the never ending slander and hatred from the right would chip away at the "middle" who would be sick of her simply because they would be sick of hearing the conservative propoganda machine scream about her.

Gore suffered from that, too - a lot of people voted for W just to shut up the right wing.

She would be lucky to be a t 50%.

10. I am not being an idealistt

I am not being an idealist when I consider that a sane and well-informed society would not be showing approval numbers that high, all things considered.

Oh, I know that, even in other countries, there is a sense of "rally around the flag" for some who feel they are expressing some sort of national support by polling positive, even for a dictator like Trump.

I would think that the an approval of 25-30% would be what you would expect from the most delusional among us, and even that is rather high.

Rather than ridiculing El Presidente's "followers", (really, a figurehead with followers is more like a cult to me) I would say we are seeing a problem with our national gestalt that points to many other destructive and detrimental factors afoot. Can they ever be addressed and rectified? Well, to think so might be idealism, however, they do deserve more attention and investigation at the very least for those with enough intellectual capacity to go beyond catch phrases and hype.

government used to play in times like these. This is what comes of hollowing out the vital agencies that would/should have been at the forefront of this pandemic. People are scared shitless, and I hope it will result in a newfound respect for those federal agencies once President Biden fills those vacancies with competent leadership.

And keep in mind this is Rasmussen. 538 would adjust that to under 30%.

I think there’s a percentage of people who don’t follow politics at all. Those people don’t pay attention to what a monster he’s been. But the last week they’ve been forced to pay attention because we’re faced with a crisis and he’s been acting like a childish idiot the entire time.
