Two Years Ago I Predicted An Attack on a U.S. Embassy...

as part of the GOP effort to unseat Obama that I called at that time “Operation Carter Hands Over Control of the Country to Republicans for 12 Years, Part II”. I based this on the fact that Karl Rove, the wunderkid of the GOP likes to recycle. If it worked before, he figures it will work again and again. And now, we have attacks on two embassies, precipitated by a film funded by folks who want to hide their identities.

Here is a link to my post from later 2009.

Things that have come true so far (besides the attack on a U.S. Embassy):

Recession. Unemployment. Tight credit. Who has the most control over the economy? Since Congress and the President will not pass any meaningful jobs legislation, the corporations have pretty much full power. The banksters can afford to sit tight and let the economy flounder. They have hundreds of billions of our dollars in their vaults to tide them over. The oil companies can raise prices. They will blame OPEC, of course. A few key big employers will lay off American workers and send the jobs overseas. Their lackeys in the corporate media will begin to declare that high taxes and the big deficit are to blame. They will suggest that Obama, as a Senator, did not have enough executive experience. They will call for another governor, another Ronald Reagan to save the day. They will anoint…

Romney. He even looks like Reagan. And his state had health care before the rest of the country (by 2012 people will be salivating over the health care that they thought they were buying in 2008 but which still will not have been delivered). Romney will get on TV with his perfect hair and declare that he has the fiscal responsibility it takes to whip this country’s economy back in shape. He will call himself the new Reagan and the new Bill Clinton. Promises of tax cuts will help, too. It is much easier for a candidate to promise tax cuts than it is for a sitting president to deliver them.

I predicted that Obama would alienate the base. Thank God he got his act together in time for the election. I hope the last few months will be enough to make us forget the three years before that.

I predicted that election fraud would be a big factor, though I did not expect the GOP to go so far as to establish Jim Crow laws (mostly because they are illegal and the Obama DOJ has the power to strike them down).

So far, the only thing that has not come true is the GOP funded third party splitter. But give them time. The Greens are on the ballot in the majority of states---which means that E-vote fraud can be used to flip Dem votes to the Greens, giving the GOP narrow wins in battle ground states.

One more (New) prediction. The WaPo will claim to have evidence that Iran directed the embassy attacks. Dick Cheney will call Obama a pussy for not invading Iran. Why? Because they have done it before.

Do not assume that this election is in the bag. The GOP dirty trick machine is only getting started, and Mitt Romney will do absolutely anything to become president, because one of his millions of gods has told him to do it.

...to no credibility and he's losing it fast. He was upstaged at his own convention by a chair.

is extra suspicious since the NYT probably planned in advance to blame Bush for 9-11 today. If the Bushes or their supporters heard about it, their very first thought would be "We need a distraction." Hiding the smoke of one fire with a bigger fire is standard procedure for both Rove and Bush Sr. They timed the invasion of Iraq to distract from the FERC report that confirmed Enron's price gouging of California. They timed 9-11 to distract from the news that Gore won. They would think nothing of putting US lives in danger in order to spare themselves embarrassment.

of a psyop. When I heard about it I wasn't surprised at all, it's a classic Rove-inspired maneuver. It's perfect timing and fits perfectly into the current RW meme of trying to blunt Obama's foreign policy edge.

I'm just disapointed that the intelligence agencies didn't monitor Terry Jones and his contacts enought to be able to head this off somehow.
