Now it is the time for PACs, Mike Bloomberg, and others to release ads using Trump's own words against him regarding Mail in Voting, handling of the Corona Virus, seizing absolute power and more.
Let the reality set in that Trump is THE clear and present danger this country has faced.

President Trump has left it largely up to states and hospitals to secure whatever supplies they can during the coronavirus pandemic. Yet the federal government has been quietly seizing some orders of those supplies, leaving medical providers across the country in the dark about where the material is going and how they can get what they need.
Hospital and clinic officials in seven states described the seizures in interviews over the past week. The Federal Emergency Management Agency is not publicly reporting the acquisitions, despite the outlay of millions of dollars of taxpayer money, nor has the administration detailed how it decides which supplies to seize and where to reroute them.

(4,994 posts)The FCC's Equal Time provision does not apply to:
- documentaries
- bona fide news interview
- scheduled newscast
- an on-the-spot news event
while the details can be quibbled, the FCC will probably assert that the daily televised briefing would fall into the "on the spot news event" category.
a few other things:
- equal time only applies to over the air broadcast stations. cable outlets are not licensed by the FCC so they are not subject to this provision.
- if equal time was granted and the FCC subsequently ruled that the equal time provision was not applicable, the equal time provision would be triggered but this time in Trump's favor.
- This is still an active provision. You may be confusing "Equal Time" with the "Fairness Doctrine". while similar, they are not the same.

(8,797 posts)Very thorough explanation. I was Loosely referring to the Fairness Doctrine the Raygun destroyed and paved the way for Fox and rightwing media. I knew the equal time for adds would not fly, but just ranting about trumps criminal use of air time for rallies and lies. Just seems a bit like Russian, Korean, and Chinese media control. But, thank you for the detail of explanation of media rules, and busting a Dream. Dreams and hopes are about all we got to hang on while democracy is being gutted. I served for this........????.

(3,283 posts)Which was one of my biggest concerns with Bloomberg being taken seriously in the nomination race at all. Mike took his ball and went home. He spent half a billion dollars on ads for his own campaign, promised a basically bottomless war chest for the eventual nominee, then slashed his actual contribution to $18million and laid off the staff he had promised to pay through November "no matter what":

(935 posts)Not to be a smart ass, but they practically write themselves. You only need to compare and contrast the things he's been recorded saying then, to what he says now. But there is still a very cognizant person inside of me that knows adult, educated, friends, coworkers, and neighbors voted this hunk of shit in to begin with. That's what eats away at me. Sorry if I sound negative. I need to recharge my battery somehow.

(5,024 posts)against Republicans running at all levels in all states but especially states who Trump is screwing over Corona. There are Republicans running in New York, California, Michigan, etc. They need to show clips of Trump making it clear that only red states will get federal aid and tie that directly to the Republicans running in those states.

To everyone here, his incredible body of "work" may be old hat, but I bet there are millions of Americans for whom it would be fresh, and hopefully, eye-opening.

(22,270 posts)maybe he will do that. If he does fund a big PAC to support Senate and House candidates who can flip Republican seats if they don't have to worry about funding as much.
We need those downballot races to go our way too.
