4:25 a.m.: FDA, FTC send warning to Infowars
The Food and Drug Administration, along with the Federal Trade Commission has sent a notice to Alex Jones' Infowars website to stop selling products it claims can help "mitigate, prevent, treat, diagnose, or cure COVID-19."
Officials not only warned against selling alleged treatments for coronavirus, but it also asked consumers not to use the products since none are approved by the FDA to treat COVID-19.
Among the items the FDA said the conspiracy theory website was selling include, Superblue Silver Immune Gargle, SuperSilver Whitening Toothpaste, SuperSilver Wound Dressing Gel and Superblue Fluoride Free Toothpaste. The products were sold on the website and promoted on Infowars videos, the FTC letter said.
The FDA has sent 26 warning letters to companies and organizations claiming to have COVID-19 treatments since March 6. Of those, 14 have been labeled as corrected."
Slippery slope here for those of us who are protective of the right to control our own healthcare. The word "cure" is very different than the word "help" as in help to boost your immune system, etc.
Meanwhile, POTUS is practicing medicine without a license, touting a dangerous drug as a "cure," & refusing to do his job.
Hypocracy much?
Remember: Pharma HATES alternative healthcare & the supplement industry. Follow the money!
Note: Not intended in any way to defend Infowars, only the legitimate vitamin, supplement & herb industry & people's RIGHT to choose their own means of care & health.

(58,785 posts)probably take seriously. A couple weeks ago Google banned Infowars' android app over coronavirus misinformation, a serious hit to Jones. Apple banned it in 2018.
As for this being about pharma "hating" alternative medicine for monetary reasons, they don't even all "hate" each other, their big competitors. Some individuals may genuinely hate lying quacks, having seen what they do, but they do not hate naturally beneficial materials on the market. Some even produce some themselves.
We've had friends in that industry back in California, which is built on gathering and studying plants. They still do that, you know. Travel the world finding new ones. Our friends in the evil drug business used naturopathic foods and such themselves for their health benefits because they knew a lot about them.
As for profits, drug companies know many people will always avoid products because they're produced by "pharma" and have gone through government testing and approvals. Those people are not their market. They do not ascribe this behavior to the naturopathic materials themselves and "hate" them. They are of course extremely aware of the many bad or worthless products being sold and of dangers they've identified in chemicals being sold over the counter.
They also know that every year use of untested alternatives, both in poisoning and as a form of neglect of personal health by refusing medications that work, turns a fair number of non-customers into patients who must have their products.
