Like the Dr said, so glad his wife was home to de-escalate the situation. Keep doing good for the homeless Dr Henderson.

(95,255 posts)I will not state openly what I feel the solution must eventually needs be, and imagine my reticence will be clear enough.
Being summarily fired, stripped his credentials to work in law enforcement, and blacklisted for any gainful employment outside guano mining and garbage picking is not nearly sufficient, though it would be a reasonable start....

That might motivate the entire force to start controlling their "bad apples".

(15,328 posts)You can't blame a single officer for doing something wrong - a bad apple.
If the force isn't training and enforcing guidelines then the blame lies far higher up. Chief-of-police, mayor, governor, people that elect them.
Own the problem. Otherwise it will continue, and it will get worse.

(95,255 posts)And perhaps the rest can take the lesson. Until punishment is meted out, and meted out routinely for outrageous excesses like this, police will continue to indulge in such behavior. For make no mistake, actions like this are done from desire, not from need. The man was looking for the opportunity, it was not thrust upon him in some way that left him little choice.
