Fox News Parades the "Act of War" Meme...

In speaking today with a person who is an ardent Fox News viewer, the description of the attack in Libya as an "Act of War" came up. After my remarking that it looked earlier as if Romney (in his response to the attacks in Libya and Egypt) had wanted to declare war today, this individual confidently stated, "Well, technically, the killing of a US citizen is an act of war...." The conversation ended shortly thereafter on quotidian grounds, and there was no chance find out where this "technical" definition came from.

However:

It turns out that Fox News interviewed Bruce Herschensohn (Nixon) to make the call - see approximately time index 00:50 in the video accompanying the article:

Also, Fox News trotted out K. T. McFarland (Reagan) and Victoria Clarke (G. W. Bush) to make the call - see approximately time index 00:35 in this video:

My questions are:

Does anyone know if Fox News presented others to "catapult the propaganda"?

Also, is it correct that the whole notion of an "act of war" is now only a colloquialism that has been replaced in international law with a state's right to self-defense?

President Obama claims he has the right as well. There are hundreds of these so called "acts of war" every day in the USA.

We'll be needing them for the war effort. It's the least they can do, considering their undying patriotism.

FOX viewers aren't going to change their minds anyway. The only people who aren't wingnuts and watch FOX are the ones who feed the real journalists and late night comedians their material.

An attack on a US embassy being an attack on the US. I think they may have it, technically. And of course, that what chicken hawks want.

What is necessary, though, is to treat the attacks as criminal and give the those countries time to bring the perps to justice. If they don't attempt this, then it appears to me that diplomacy is over. Next come cuts in unilateral aid and possible limited military action. I can't imagine Obama letting them get away with it.
