Cant find anything locally but worry about buying online. Besides price gouging Ive heard of faulty or counterfeit masks. I ordered a medical thermometer from Walmart. They took the order then a couple days later got an email it was delayed. That was over a week ago and now they said itll be here next week. They ought to be required to show if an item is in stock or not. I decided not to cancel the order since at least it ought to be here next week. If I cancel it Id be starting over with some other supplier. Id like to order some masks since it sounds like some restrictions may be easing but Ill be remaining careful for a long time to come.

(5,641 posts)They can be effective if made correctly. I know a lot of people say a homemade mask is worthless, but I have done a ton of research and they are useful, albeit not as effective as N95 or surgical mask.
If you want some links to good articles discussing homemade masks, let me know. Believe it or not, a dish towel has a pretty effective score when used as a mask.

They cite a study done by others but it is a good article.

(10,214 posts)Ive seen some that dont require seeing. Yes Im sure they are better than nothing and could be just as good if properly made. I might try that. I saw one video, I think on TikTok that just used a sock and no sewing.

(2,227 posts)They ship from China. (Hong Kong, founded in 2015) Apparently they have been busy manufacturing what everyone needs, but US companies can't.
Seems to be reasonably priced. May take a while...
