I get SS every month so I think that may have made it faster. My bank was down for a day so maybe they were getting all those deposits.
Has anyone else gotten it?

(25,865 posts)I was utterly delighted when, late Tuesday evening, I looked at my checking account and saw that both the stimulus check and the SS had hit it.
I have the wonderful good fortune not to need that money, so I promptly disbursed half of it to a local homeless shelter, the other half to a local food bank. The next day I got nice thank-you emails from each. I feel so good to be able to give that money away to those two deserving places.

(53,410 posts)Im also lucky that I dont need it.

(25,865 posts)There are many, many worthy places out there to give to, for those of us lucky enough to be able to give.
In my case, I actually do volunteer work at the homeless shelter I gave half of the money to, and I'm extremely aware of the need.

(25,865 posts)I live in Santa Fe, NM.
The homeless shelter I volunteer at is informally known as Pete's Pets, because the building used to house a pet supply place. The Interfaith Community Shelter, which is the official name, acquired it about 8 or so years ago when Pete's Pets, the business, closed down. Right now the shelter is housing about half the number of homeless that it normally would, and the others are now being placed in motels or at a recently closed University here, in the dorms. Volunteers did the small amount of fixing up the dorms needed, and it appears that this may wind up being something of a long-term solution for the homeless.
The food bank is called the Food Depot, and they collect and distribute food all over northern New Mexico. Including to the Interfaith Community Shelter/Pete's Pets.
While I have at earlier times in my life been relatively poor, and I've gone somewhat hungry at times, I've never been homeless, never been seriously without food. But close enough to understand how fortunate I am.
I honestly think that one of the things that will come out of this will be a greater compassion and help for people like the homeless. I think that we, as a society, will seek real solutions to the problem.

(65,175 posts)My payment is scheduled to be deposited Apr 22. Will try it for my mom later today. I was concerned when it said info not available for me before and tried to file again. The site I used the first time was rinky-dink. But when it didnt go through, I knew they had my return.

(31,261 posts)So, if you are not to get the monthly SS yet, maybe it will come with that payment.
Maybe one reason why they were rushing to start it last week is that was the first week of the month.

(47,561 posts)I mentioned in another thread how i overspent when the shit hit the fan, and I was gonna use this check to recoup that money.
But I've thought about it since then.
I'm one of the lucky ones who got to pack up his cubicle and transfer his job from the office to the bedroom. I'm still working my forty a week. The first couple of weeks were crazy, but over that last three weeks, my productivity is basically what it was in the weeks immediately preceding the stay home order.
And stay home I have. I just finished my fifth week of this crap, and other than needing a haircut like it's nobody's business, I'm mostly just bored. (Like I said: One of the lucky ones.)
So I've decided in good faith (and good conscience) to spend my stimulus money stimulating my favorite local restaurants.
You know. Use it for what it's for.

(8,055 posts)4/15. When I file my taxes, I use my account so they have my information. Three of my friends also received theirs, two are retired and on social security and one is on SSD. My sister in Chicago (who's been on SSD for many years) hasn't received hers yet. Also, my roommate who's on social security hasn't received hers yet either. There doesn't seem to be a method to the madness....

(31,261 posts)My oldest brother gets SS in the first week of each month because his birthdate is in the first week of his birthmonth. Is your birthday in the second week of your birthmonth? If so, that may explain why you got the stimulus Wednesday, that would have been the second Wednesday of the month.

(53,410 posts)I remember they told me why I get it when I do but I cant remember.

(31,261 posts)This month has five Wednesdays, so maybe that had something to do with it. You technically got paid on the third Wednesday of the month.

(31,261 posts)That used to drive me nuts when I drove my oldest brother around to pay his bills, his bank withheld his money until the very last minute before crediting his account, one time I had to give him $1,200 to meet an unexpected bill that had a due date.

(24,396 posts)We owed taxes in 2018/19, so the IRS didnt have our bank info.
The IRS site now says I will get the relief check and that it will post when I can expect it.
Our $ has yet to be issued by the IRS.
My sons accounts are under my overall account. He got a tax refund this year and got his $1200 Tuesday.
