He had some technical problems just now, and was so quick thinking.... He couldn't hear his director or his guest, so he asked the audience to tweet if we could hear him. Simply a pro.

(10,434 posts)I missed that incident, but when I saw Velshi, I thought - he's on in the mornings, he's on in the afternoon, he covers primetime shows and he works weekends too. He really works a lot.
And I really like his show

(14,732 posts)I think he deserves his own show at a better time than Sunday morning. Maybe replace Matthews on Hardball?

(32,659 posts)Ari seems like the right person to turn that show around too. Many of us turned the channel when Chris Matthews came on. Myself, I didn't dislike Matthews so much for his politics but because his delivery always put me on edge. I couldn't stand the impolite way he would always interrupt his guests, cut them off and finish their sentences.
Ari Velshi on the other hand is always a polite interviewer, and his shows are generally interesting and informative. He seems to get along with everyone and he certainly does a good job filling in for other hosts. It seems he takes the extra slot whenever needed, and that happens a lot these days.

(2,749 posts)But this morning he talked for a long time, in a very sensible way about how absurd it is to allow employers to pay people $7 something an hour, because, of course, nobody can live on that. And how people argue that if we were to pay people a minimum of $15 an hour the prices would go up. So they would, but is it really fair to abuse people like that so we can buy stuff cheaper than it makes sense? If you can afford something only because someone is being cheated/discounted/abused, maybe you shouldnt have it.
He has a beautiful sense of justice and common decency for a money man.

(4,919 posts)When he and Stephanie Ruhle talk amongst one another about our unfair capitalistic system... It is always enlightening.
When Ali Velshi speaks extemporaneously.... I always feel like I learned something.

(4,919 posts)... of all the MSNBC producers and technical folks working from home to make shows happen right now. It was glorious... Such a lovely diverse crew... Young and older, and many colors. MSNBC has really become a place to be for TV talent.
