He's now talking "third-party".
He is still "Bernie or die". It's like he didn't get the memo.
If I didn't live in a blue state, I would defy him and campaign (I am bipolar and it is not good for my health. It puts me in a manic state, and it's not fair to make him live with me when I'm like that.)
He is certain that Biden is ill, and has to rest for a week between speaking engagements.
Four years ago, I knew he would vote for Jill Stein and I decided that the house would be "politically silent" so that I wouldn't kill him. The few times we got into it, he didn't understand that he was making me crazy.
I take politics way too seriously. We are in a blue state. There was no risk. If we had been in a swing state, I would have gone out of my mind.

(92,273 posts)He truly believes that Hillary would have been just as bad.
As I said, I try to stay politically silent. Every time I say "Hillary would not have done this." "He says, maybe not, but she's a corporatist and she would not have fixed the country for the working people."
Nothing else seems to matter to him.
NOTHING.

(34,080 posts)I live in a purple/red state - so every vote counts. My daughter (at least as of the day Bernie dropped out) and (at least) two friends are in the same situation. one is in a blue state (the one who is less stable - so I a grateful I can ignore it); the other two are in states where every vote matters. I suspect both will vote the right way - but I'm givine them space.

(92,273 posts)states were traditionally blue, and too many people "didn't fret it"
There is no doubt in my mind that the vast majority of Sanders supporters will be voting for the Democratic nominee
Why every vote is important for the Democratic nominee regardless of the state, is to send the message loud and clear, how much the country detest the nazi in the WH

(34,080 posts)Not purple states, or states Trump won, or came close to winning in, in 2016. (All the states you mentioned are in the latter, not the former, category)
I've been jumping all over people who are posting "When we win" and reminding them of 2016. But there is a distinction between believing that the election is a slam dunk, and recognizing that there are certain states that will (for the foreseeable near future) be red or blue. Far too many people took a win in 2016 for granted and (1) didn't vote or (2) did a protest vote for a third party candidate to show President Clinton she needed to listen to more liberal voices or - not expecting their votes to help Trump win.

I disagree with them, but they are all extremely principled people, at least two of which have engaged in civil disobedience in furtherance of those principles.(i.e. putting their lives and freedom at risk because they disagreed so strongly in actions the government was taking)

18. That is insulting.

If they have said 'principles' and
(i.e. putting their lives and freedom at risk because they disagreed so strongly in actions the government was taking)
Sigh, yet here we have a government and president that are actively with malice and forethought are murdering Americans on American soil. Said government are not only taking away their freedom, they have killed 37K with non action and refusing, REFUSING!!! to provide them with the equipment that may save them. Worst yet, they are killing the doctors and nurses that have risked their lives and the lives of their families by REFUSING to provide them with PPE!
MY NIECE WAS GIVEN HER NEW PPE A FEW WEEKS AGO. A RAINCOAT! A raincoat, one mask per day. Friends are donating gloves and masks to her unit. Yet the highly principled people you speak of are angry at a Hillary and a Biden and refuse to vote against the most dangerous man in the world. Their purity be damned.
No blue state is ever safe unless we all vote.
I am sorry. I have family on the line and I am angry that others do as well and are just not interested in protecting themselves, their family and the rest of us that will suffer from their inaction and lack of care for their fellow man. It is selfish.

It was the first time in months I saw her and the kids. We sat outside on the cold deck apart from each other. No one but my sister and I are allowed in the house because of mom.
I miss my family.
Hugs.

(68,609 posts)I don't care where they live. We need a landslide and as much popular vote as we can get...anyone who stays at home, votes for Stein or whoever or writes in Sanders or anyone else's name is a fucking traitor to this country and the Democratic party...and I don't care what the hell their 'problem' with the primary was...boohoo. Everyone had a fair shot Biden won. Now if you are a Democrat you vote blue period end of story...otherwise you are a Republican and help reelect Trump or make it close enough for a steal by Republicans.
I will hate those who voted for Jill Stein, stayed home...wrote in a name in 16...didn't vote for the Democratic nominee (the only one who could stop Trump and the same is true today) until the day I die. These folks have blood on their hands. And I have no interest in their what I consider whining...selfish care for nobodies if you ask me. Trump has kill thousands of Americans, put babies in cages and starved the poor among other horrors. If these folks are not motivated to vote for Joe Biden a decent man who was Pres. Obama's VP then they can get lost as far as I am concerned. I am sick of their sniveling.

(457 posts)"One cannot vacillate or remain neutral between a house on fire versus the fire brigade."
In this case, the fire brigade may not be of your liking but to use it as a "principle" will only make the house burn down and perhaps surrounding houses as well.
Similarly, not everyone passionate about something is "principled" - some do it for attention, some do it for ego and many are just plain stupid. Have you ever been to a gathering of the "flat earth society?" They are also very passionate about their position but to call them principled is an abomination.

I vote absentee back in Texas. We flipped my home district (TX-32) last time, and I doubt we'll go for Biden or ditch Cornyn, but it's not forbidden to dream! If Trump keeps acting more and more like a candidate for a straitjacket, and Abbott and Cornyn continue to lick his ass, well, even Texas has a breaking point.

Tickets for the event sold for a minimum of $250. Those who spent the maximum, $2,700, or who raised $10,000, were invited to a pre-event reception, according to the invitation.
The 14 co-hosts included Cindy Asner, the former wife of the actor Ed Asner, the actress Mimi Kennedy, and Benjamin W. Decker, whose website notes that he was once called the legendary Hollywood P.R. maven by Forbes magazine, and used to produce celebrity-driven red-carpet movie premieres.

The "burn it down" rather than select someone less than perfect to continue civilization is more the realm of men, and women who draw their identity and power from the men they align with than those of us who are thinking things through.

(32,717 posts)The turnout models may not be the same as they usually are. Everyone needs to vote for who they feel comfortable handling this crisis through 2022.
Tell your husband that the choice is binary: trump or Biden. Who does he want handling this crisis and the next? Because trump isn't learning anything from his mistakes. He views everything he does as perfect. Meanwhile, he's actually creating new crises as I type!
