(60,010 posts)Mr. Dixie and I are both direct deposit SS....
I'd love to hear from people in Ala. who have gotten the deposit stimulus, given that trump is pissed at Sessions here. I don't put anything past him.
Burning question....those who did get the deposits, what day of the week did it come???
SS checks are deposited on Wednesdays.

(115,836 posts)in 2018 or 2019 and got refunds by direct deposit, whether or not they are SS recipients. As I understand it your tax filing situation was what determines whether you get a direct deposit check and when.

(63,221 posts)I didn't get nearly the full amount, but it was still a nice bonus. I am giving a lot of it away to Dems in tight races around the country. Saving a bit for an uncertain future.

Also I believe it depends on if SS or SSDi is your only income. For me I have no other income.

(6,110 posts)My ex-wife got her $1200 sooner because she was getting a refund and had it direct deposited to her bank account.
I owed so just filed on April 15th. Therefore IRS does not have my direct deposit info via my tax return.
If the $1200 does not come with my SS direct deposit, then I will have to wait a long time for a paper check, could be July!
at140
(6,110 posts)IRS has a web site to inquire status of stimulus check, I wen there today and found out IRS does have my bank info and it said I am eligible and will receive the stimulus money direct deposit but did not specify the date.

(6,110 posts)And if it comes in August via a paper check, I will be OK.
at140
(6,110 posts)My ex-wife filed early and had a refund deposited, so she passed all the flags and got $1200 early.
I files late because I owe taxes, and since I never get a refund, the only bank info IRS can have is from my SS monthly deposit.
Hope IRS can access that data from SS Admin. Otherwise it will be a paper check and those can be as late as August.

(65,168 posts)We got $900 of the $2,400.
I was surprised because I thought the prioritized high earners low. But, I was wrong.
Got it on the 15th.
at140
(6,110 posts)And did you file earlier than March 15th?
If both are true, it explains why you received the deposit early.
Because IRS knew your income and also knew your bank account info.

I filed for 2018, but didn't owe any, didn't get a refund
I filed for 2019 ( in Feb.) I owed the IRS, paid when I filed
So I guess in both 2018 and 2019, my direct deposit wasn't on file recently. Although it is with Social Security.
I filled out the form on getmypayment and I get the same message daily: You qualify, and we will send you money direct deposit but we don't know the date ( paraphrased)

(1,586 posts)... and those on SS who have other income might have gotten theirs already. I think they are leaving the deposits that depend on SS deposit information alone for the last of the deposits.
I think that also explains why the get my payment thing does not work for us.
PoindexterOglethorpe
(25,895 posts)I also file income taxes every year, and got a small refund in both 2018 and 2019.
It seems, from what I'm reading here, that those who file and who got refunds either of these two years are more likely to have gotten the money already. Those who either have to pay or don't file, are going to get theirs a bit later.
Keep in mind, they had to set up some system to determine who'd get the money first, second, and so on. There was no way they could send out a hundred million or more deposits or checks all at the same time.

(11,686 posts)because into my account because I recieve SSDI but I found out yesterday that I will get an actual check. My mother gets her Soc-Sec money on the 3rd Wednesday of each month and she was wondering why she hadn't gotten hers so she called her bank. They told her the stimulus is part of a tax system and those who have to file will get it first. It does not matter if you have direct deposits and get some type of government funds it will be mailed.

(3,557 posts)I get my SSDI direct deposited into my bank account every third Wednesday. Both my normal SSDI payment and the $1,200 relief payment showed up as pending in my bank account last Friday. For me, it will be deposited into my account tomorrow morning.
I also receive dependent benefits for both of my children on the same day. The relief payment for them has not shown up yet.

One such article, from USA Today / Detroit Free Press:
https://www.usatoday.com/story/money/2020/04/21/coronavirus-stimulus-cash-missing-your-check-may-way/5169060002/
More than half of the people who qualify to receive recovery rebates or checks have yet to receive any cash, and many will start seeing their money this week or later.
Some seniors who receive Social Security retirement benefits via direct deposit are expected to see that money associated with the Economic Impact Payments hit their accounts sometime this week, possibly next.
This group includes people who receive Social Security benefits but may not make enough money to be required to file a federal income tax return. Many will not need to file any extra forms to receive this money.
Much more at the link.
