But consider the word judgment. I used to ALWAYS misspell it 'judgEment.'
Now, after decades, we can go on Word and both spellings go through without a squawk.

Spellcheck might not flag "bate," since it is a valid word, used most often in the form "He waited with bated breath." It means something quite different to "wait with baited breath." (Ate a lot of sardines, he did.)
