Texas Sen. John Cornyn questioned a study this week that showed a drug Trump has been pushing to treat COVID-19 actually led to more deaths.
Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX) on Tuesday questioned a study by U.S. researchers that found a malaria drug Donald Trump has been pushing as a "miracle" cure for COVID-19 is no miracle at all and might lead to death for some patients who take it.
"How about real clinical trials?" Cornyn tweeted, calling into question the validity of the government-funded study that found the drug, hydroxychloroquine, offered no apparent benefits.
The researchers also found that more patients who received the drug died than those who received routine care for the disease.
"The study was posted on an online site for researchers and has been submitted to the New England Journal of Medicine, but has not been reviewed by other scientists," Cornyn added, suggesting that it was not valid.
Cornyn himself has touted smaller and more widely criticized studies previously to push hydroxychloroquine.

Traffic's back to normal. But more people are wearing masks at the HEB. The two ferals I feed needed kitty food. I'd like to think I see more birds because of it.

They have been brainwashed to believe we are evil or animals, well just try me, assholes. I've had it with their bullshit. I may be a pacifist, but a few choice words said correctly will have them shitting in their pants as they run away like the little babies they are.

I guess that this is the so called republican death panel, that does the recommending of drugs that people should take for certain diseases.
And the Country that exports the drug (India) actually stopped the drug from being exported from India after worldwide outcries for this drug multiplied. Problem is, the drug will kill (and has) for other than the purpose it was made for (Malaria) and too, it will severely impact worldwide Malaria cases (in the millions) from getting the drug therapies that they need.
Cornyn is one of the top republican idiots too, I don't think you could get dumber than him, but I'm sure a lot of them in the background of Cornyn will try.

(21,634 posts)He was pushing it because he had business interests in it even though there was basically nothing proving its efficacy. So under that guise the Feds bought huge quantities of it. Drumpf could care less if it works he just needed the excuse to buy it up to line his pockets under the guise of being prepared if it became that standard of care. It will all probably rot in some warehouse now.

(82,849 posts)That's a very good question, Senator. Why weren't you asking it when Needy Amin was touting this "miracle" cure because he needed to take some of the pressure and attention off his lethally inept response to the pandemic? How many additional deaths can we trace to Trump's reckless statements, buttressed by your all-too-credulous support? How will you answer for those deaths?
