Apparently, Carlson believes he took the coronavirus pandemic too seriously early on.

Fox News host Tucker Carlson, who received mainstream praise for helping push President Donald Trump to take the coronavirus pandemic seriously, confidently declared on Monday night that the virus that has killed more than 56,000 Americans in only a few weeks just isnt nearly as deadly as we thought it was.
Pointing to recent antibody studies that show high rates of infection in New York and California, Carlson kicked off his primetime Fox News program by claiming these testswhich critics have warned could be flawed due to false positives and statistical errorsreveal the disease is not as dangerous as advertised.
The Fox star eventually moved on to highly scrutinized claims made by a pair of California doctors to further his case that coronavirus has already infected a large percentage of the population with very little damage.

(8,445 posts)We'll never know the exact number of people who died, or will die, because they didn't get timely medical treatment because they couldn't see a doctor, or get into a hospital, or were afraid to go to a hospital, etc. We'll never know how many cancers weren't detected because tests weren't done in a timely manner.
Tucker Carlson can rot in hell.

We also don't have a full counting of cases or deaths that have occurred because of lack of testing, and some who died were not ever tested, and cause of death was listed as pneumonia without knowing if they were positive or not for covid

(5,131 posts)They fail to address the point that we have done a fantastic job on social distancing to slow the spread, which in turn also affected the death rate. And even with the great job that we have done - we still lost 56,000 in a relatively short period. Just imagine if had not put those stay at home policies in place.
He is a part of the death cult encouraging people to get back to work to get the economy back on track. And none of the people pushing this will be in danger. They are not the security guard at the mall, the sales clerk on the floor at the shoe store, waitresses, teachers, etc. They are not in jobs that put their lives in extreme risk due to coming in contact with lots of people that may have the virus.

(46,234 posts)Hey Tucker! You mean like:
1. 58,220-plus deaths and counting?
2. Untreatable bilateral pneumonia?
3. Kidney failure?
4. The lining of your blood vessels shedding which allows for infinite clots to travel to your lungs, your brain, your heart?
And this is doable, Tucker?

(51,053 posts)which were really just guesses based on total pneumonia and respiratory deaths, gave these assholes a statistic that allows them to say that CV is not much worse than flu.
These ridiculous CDC flu estimates that say things like "flu deaths last year are estimated to be between 16,000 to 60,000" have come home to roost. The media invariably reports the higher number and THIS is what allows republicans to make the absurd statement that "Covid is not worse that flu."
We are now seeing what 60,000 deaths in a single season actually looks like.

That is just my opinion though. We don't really have any decent information.

(61,707 posts)It's a 5.6% death rate. It may not be as deadltpy as Marburg or Ebola, but with the rate of transmission, if almost everyone gets the disease, that's 18 million dead Americans.

5.6% derives from an analysis that's quite a bit simpler than possible.
