because I always do direct deposit. All good though 'cause I was going to withdraw it anyway.
I already cashed the check and no letter with it. Ooops.. I forgot to look at who signed it.

(58,698 posts)Deposited and much of it distributed/spent, but nearly half as nest egg for near future. Have a couple of more things to pick up, got to blow some of it on something selfish and frivolous.

It brings an amazing amount of Peace of Mind. I'd rather not have it because of why we got it.. but as long as that's the freaking Twilight Zone reality..

(58,698 posts)I'm not as bad off as many are, but I'm carrying some CC debt that just got a smidgen lower today.
Like I said, a couple of frivolous, selfish things to pick up, but wanna send a few bux to the local food bank, too.
Cha
(297,557 posts)it.. it was surreal getting all those $100 bills from the bank today. She was happy for me.. she hadn't gotten hers yet.
And, yes I plan to part with some to pay down a CC bill.

Good on you being able to use it for our farmers who need it and, of course.. Pot! I imagine there's a lot of that going on sheltered at home.

I just learned our Gov has extended our stay at home until the end of May.. still get to go out and run and get supplies wherever it takes me. I'm kind of a hermit now-a-days, anyway.
But I feel for all those who don't want to stay at HOME all the Darn Time!

(297,557 posts)second wave of the Spanish Flu in 1919 is what killed my grandfather and so many other people.

(57,172 posts)Mesa's was a pretty one near my home. I was looking at the graves in one section and I noticed there were a lot of children and infants all dead within just about a six month period and as I went through the section there were entire families dead within days of each other and I investigated to see what that was all about and that's how I learned about the Great Flu Pandemic. All the graves I saw were from the second wave. I never found another section in the cemetery that would have been a first wave section, that was a small enough group that it was spread out around it.
The second wave is what determines when I break out of quarantine.
Cha
(297,557 posts)Thank you for telling me that. My grandfather was young.. he had a 2 year old baby. He was living in a small town in Colorado, on the Plains, working at the train station. My grandma was devastated.

Thank you for answering, Hermit.

(33,403 posts)Let us hope that someone figures out a way to stop the red power play of forcing people to either go back to work or starve without unemployment payments. GOP is becoming more and more despicable as they become desperate to hang on to power.
Maybe some employers could face wanton endangerment or even wrongful death lawsuits?
Cha
(297,557 posts)a good job here. No deaths, yet.. Thank Goodness.. Course we have the advantage of being on a small Island so it's easier to contain when everyone follows the rules. $5,ooo fine if you don't. The Visitors are quarantined for 2 weeks in their hotel rooms before they can go out.
Kauai hasnt seen a new COVID-19 diagnosis in 15 days. Now, theyre reporting no active cases
That means there are no known active cases on Kauai.
The decline in the threat has many wondering: What now?
Gov. David Ige has extended his stay-at-home order for the state through May 31 and mandated that county mayors go through him for approval before instituting any changes to the restrictions.
Kauai Mayor Derek Kawakami hasnt yet indicated how hed like the island to reopen. But he instituted strict emergency orders early on, including a nighttime curfew, and bristled at the suggestion that Kauai act as a test case for the reboot of the tourism industry.
As always, we must proceed with cautious optimism, Kawakami said, in a Facebook update Tuesday.
There is no doubt that we will see more cases of COVID-19 on Kauai at some point.

(33,403 posts)Combine that with South Korea and New Zealand and it rises to the level of proof that acting early and strongly is the way to beat the virus -- exactly as the scientists told us.
May you continue to hold off the virus with sensible leadership and sensible neighbors!

Oh yes.. the Govs and Leaders who took this seriously and "strongly" as you say are the responsible ones are who winning against this deadly scourge Virus.
Sure shows the difference between the Dems and the repubs in the most terrifying way.
Once again.. you cannot make this shite up.

(23,337 posts)Im curious, did your check actually have the MFs signature on it? If I get a check and not direct deposit, Im going to take a photo of his signature with my middle finger next to it just because. If I get my payment, I plan to save some, donate some to the food bank and divide up the rest for donations to Dem candidates.
Cha
(297,557 posts)When I got it today.. I just focused on the amount.. took it right to the bank and cashed it. I didn't even look at the sig.. but, joinfortmill posted it was in the Memo section.. wherever that was.
I thought I would have Direct Deposit 'cause that's what I do.. I was surprised to find the check in my mailbox!
So you have big plans about what to do with your check if you get it! lol That's why I call it blood money.. I'll take it, and tell clusterfuck to FO.
