Herd Immunity appears to be the current GOP plan

They cannot get testing out the door. So, they now calculate that we just let it roll through the population and by the fourth quarter (i.e., Election), the economy will be back and they will claim “victory “. Look at how many we “saved” they will exclaim!

1. Get kids back to schools in crowded classrooms
2. Kids go home to Mom and Dad.
3. Kids, Mom and Dad go see Grandma and Grandpa
4. People ignore Stay at Home and go out to eat
5. People will get sick and die

The bet is that more democratic voters will die than GOP voters and the economy will be growing.

Ok, I know this sounds like some crackpot conspiracy theory. But, watch how the dialogue is changing.....

So, rural areas will suffer more deaths, and Trump supporters in rural areas of red states will die for their cause.

with a slight attempt to "flatten the curve" as they hope for a miracle cure or a "hotter weather" month.

immunity of any duration from this thing is far from proven.

i am not impressed with the "save the economy by dropping money onto wall st from a helicopter." plan, and i really wish our dem congresscritters were not so blasted cooperative

The Spanish flu lasted 2 years and many areas of the country threw parades while others isolated. So the whole herd immunity isn't going to shorten this to a couple of months. Even if somehow that happened experts are saying it will be back again in fall.

The economy is pretty much toast for certain sectors while other parts of the economy will do well. Small business like hair dressers and nail salons probably won't make it. You can't force people to go out and buy stuff if they feel unsafe. Most people will continue to purchase online and take a DIYU approach for other services.

If they go with the herd immunity approach we will have allot of bodies, allot more than we are seeing now. The country isn't gong to forget that in a few months.

No matter what the Republicans and the Trump administration own this and I suspect they'll go down in flames in Nov no matter what approach they take.

Why did Brian Kemp open up the whole state, but it's still not safe to do tours of the Governors' Mansion? He gave away the game, it's to kill us - the working class and poor. They know there won't be herd immunity by election time and are counting on a huge level of death and chaos, so the red state can close all the precincts in blue cities making for lines all day long. Plus they will be using ever voter suppression tactic they can get in place before then.

Hopefully enough people that weren't motivated to vote before will realize drumpf is an existential threat to their very lives that has to be stopped and we will have a blue tsunami that will be unstoppable.

15. This is not "herd immunity."

Herd immunity requires vaccines, or at least acquiring immunity upon surviving the disease to protect those who cannot be vaccinated/exposed. There is no vaccine. There is only an assumption that people cannot get reinfected once they catch COVID-19, and it We're seeing evidence that this may not be the case. What we're describing is "cull the herd." They're more than happy to take out the old and weak. Fewer people to pay out Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, disability, etc. More for them to steal. Not a conspiracy. Just a new form of GOP smash-and-grab.

90% or above for herd immunity. That will put us well into the millions in victims.
