What a Contrast Between Pence and Mayo Clinic Staff!

Look at this photo of Pence leaving after his visit to the Mayo Clinic. Everyone from Mayo is wearing a mask. Pence and his Secret Service people are not. Pence and Trump have a blatant disregard for everyone other than themselves:

Trump is a self admitted germaphobe. He spent plenty of time at Mar A Lago meeting with people who later tested positive for the virus. I sometimes wonder whether maybe he tested positive but is asymptomatic.

The part I don't understand is his explanation. He said he didn't wear a mask because "I thought it'd be a good opportunity for me to be here, to be able to speak to these researchers, these incredible healthcare personnel, and look them in the eye and say thank you."
To me this reads:
"This is a great chance for a photo-op. I want the country to see me in the trenches. The risk these incredible healthcare personnel take every day is less important to me than an opportunity for my supporters to see my face. The only lame excuse I can come up with is that I want to look them in the eye even though wearing a mask doesn't interfere with that but some of them might be dumb enough to believe me and I don't mind insulting anyone's intelligence."

Fake bravado that people will imitate. He's likely to lose some of his base because of that, too.

Stupid is Trump's middle name.

Piss off Trump and lose your funding. That's why Mayo didn't insist on a mask for Pence.
