(Paris) Rue du Rivoli permanently closed to automobiles

Holy shit.

https://www.lemonde.fr/politique/article/2020/04/30/a-paris-la-rue-de-rivoli-bientot-fermee-aux-voitures_6038267_823448.html

The Mayor of Paris has just announced that Rue du Rivoli will be closed to automotive traffic until further notice, and will probably not re-open to them.

Rivoli is the street that goes from Place de la Concorde (where the US embassy is) to the Bastille. It passes in front of the Tuileries Garden, the Louvre, Châtelet, and the Hôtel de Ville (Paris's city hall).

Also, they will make bike routes that follow very close to the main metro lines, to reduce pollution.

The last time I was in Paris I remember the traffic and pollution, and that had to have been 15-20 years ago.
