If the USA had the same level of testing as Russia to date

According to Worldometers, Russia has tested 3,490,000 of its citizens of which 106,498 show positive for Covid-19. That means 96.9% of their testing comes back negative, 3.1% positive.

If the USA were to test at the same rate as Russia, guess how many tests we would have made? Answer: 35,323,323. We've tested only 6,391,887 of our citizens, a deficit of 28,931,436 tests to Russia's rate of testing. Currently 17.1% of those tested in the USA are Covid-19 positive.

We're not testing enough.

Nice strawman fallacy. If you read my post I was clear how the numbers work. Here's the math. ffr May 2020 #2

According to worldometers:
Russia with almost 24k tests per million, the US with 19.3k tests per million.
More tests per capita in Russia but not 5-6 times more.

Edit: I just realized you used the ratio of tests returning a positive result. Not sure what the point of that is.

I'll spoon feed it to you.

Country - Tests ----- Cases ----- %
USA ---- 6,391,887 --1,095,023 --- 17.1%
Russia - 3,49,000 ---- 106,498 ---- 3.1%

If 106498 is 3.1% of tests performed, then applying the same 1,095,023/3.1% to the USA level of testing to cases = 35,323,323. Which means that if the USA were testing at the same level as Russia, we'd have performed 28,931,436 more tests than we have.

See, math. It's way easier than writing up a strawman fallacy that nobody asked about. Stick with the facts and you'll come to the same conclusion the rest of us did.

Welcome to DU.

I've been here around 7 years before you but it's always nice to see a new faces. Hope you like it here. I might give you some tips in regards to how to read profiles, if you like.

And no need to be so arrogant. I had already edited my post acknowledging your way to look at the problem.
But I get it, you needed to kick your deserted thread. I'll help you out with another kick.

See normally, when someone posts a rebuttal calling out the facts or logic of an OP they'd like to retract, the simplest method would be to delete your post instead of leaving the glaring title:

Your math seems way off

According to worldometers:
Russia with almost 24k tests per million, the US with 19.3k tests per million.
More tests per capita in Russia but not 5-6 times more.

I think I've done that in the past too. I've read something the wrong way and felt my post no longer had any merit, so I deleted it.

Sorry you're having a bad day. But I hope it gets better.

I agree about testing, but I don't trust the Russian government to provide accurate information.
There are probably better countries to use as an example.
SK comes to mind.
