Democrats, including Biden, went way too far with the "believe women" statements, forgetting that the presumption of innocence is also something we usually believe in. I don't think Biden did this, but there's no way for him to defend himself or for anyone else to defend him without looking like a hypocrite.

The foundation of our legal system is the presumption of innocence. We destroyed that with the #BelieveEveryWoman during Kavanaugh. Joe even went so far to say this in a Washington Post Interview (17 Sept 2018):

"Speaking generally, Biden added, “For a woman to come forward in the glaring lights of focus, nationally, you’ve got to start off with the presumption that at least the essence of what she’s talking about is real, whether or not she forgets facts, whether or not it’s been made worse or better over time.
