I have read recently that the VP search is almost over.
When is Biden indicating he'll have his pick named?

(63,912 posts)So many of the female possibllities are already doing wonderful work in the House and Senate. We hate to lose them there!
In the process of becoming a force to be reckoned with....Way better off with her where she is

(11,605 posts)I'm surprised she hasn't been mentioned. She'd probably excite progressives as much as Warren, and she's a lot younger (and I don't think Bernie's hardcore supporters are bitter at her).

Not Nancy's finest moment IMHO. Porter is literally tailor made for that group.

(32,645 posts)That's always been the tradition, but so many traditions have bitten the dust lately. This one may go down too. I believe Katie Porter would be an excellent choice, however we need her strong voice in the House. Don't forget that she's only in her freshman term, even though it seems she demonstrates way more leadership than a first-term Congresswoman normally would have.
So there are other choices available to Biden and he'll need to choose wisely. I'd like to see him choose a strong, dedicated, intelligent leader who can be his partner and perhaps take over after his first term. (Biden may decide to bow out after 4 years.) So I'd like to see him choose a woman who is in tune politically, preferably black but essentially someone who can step into the Oval Office and be ready to take over the reins when needed. With that in mind I'm hoping he'll choose Kamala Harris or Stacey Abrams as his running mate. That's assuming Michelle Obama won't want it, because she's my IDEAL first choice. It has already been rumored that Michelle says "no."

If I was being questioned by her, and she whipped out that whiteboard, I'd pretend to pass out and fall to the floor. It's the only chance any poor sucker could have against her.
I see her as Pres in a few years. She is a FORCE!

the House hearings. That having been said, I'd like to see her a bit more "seasoned" before being considered for a VP spot, especially considering that Biden will be the oldest elected president in history.
My ideal scenario would be:
Biden-Harris, 2020-2024, with Katie Porter in the House or Cabinet
Harris-Klobuchar, 2024-2032, with Katie Porter in Cabinet
Klobuchar-Porter, 2032-2040,
Porter-?
Yes, I realize that line-up is female heavy, but there's absolutely nothing wrong with that. Especially after enduring the mess we've lived through for the last 3 1/2, we need many future administrations with a newly-restored sense of compassion, healing, intelligence, honesty, and leadership. If the UK, Germany, Israel, India, and others can prosper under a woman's leadership for many years, so can the U.S. It's time we began the process.
Note to all: The above is my opinion only. I'll respect yours if you respect mine. I may not be the deepest thinker, but I know what I like. Please let me live my fantasy for a little while, and kindly forego hammering me with an argument or a skewering. Honestly? I'm weary and just not in the mood for a DU tussle over an opinion. I'm noticing that as our shutdown continues, tempers and tolerance here are getting a bit shorter. Peace and love...
