What are 'Murder Hornets' and should I be worried? Asian giant hornets spotted in the US

Swarms of locusts, no? But how about a plague of giant hornets?

A pandemic, Earthquakes, flooding, upcoming food shortages! The only things left are days of deep, intense darkness and for the Chesapeake Bay or San Francisco Bay to turn into blood...

2. I have cow killers in my yard. Well I saw one, one time.

I was barefooted. It was a good thing I saw it before stepping down. I got to see one instead of feel one. Nice.

I don't want Asian giant hornets and I am crazy for all kinds of insects. I love them, even the stinging ones, usually. I have hornets, wasps, and red imported fire ants galore in my yard. I still enjoy watching them even though I have to take a sting every now and again. I love insects like crazy. I love spiders now since moving to my current home. I even love Carolina Wolf Spiders who carry mice pinkies around like they are teddy bears now. I used to be terrified of all things insect. Now, I love them.

I do NOT want Asian giant hornets though. Nope. That would be the one case (other than bullet ants and Republicans) where I would actually ever say, "Kill it with fire." I am usually NEVER one to say that, but NEVER has its exceptions.

You do NOT want Asian giant hornets in your yard. They will make you wish you could fall into a red imported fire ant mound so maybe the red imported fire ants would kill the hornet for you...even though they will be stinging you too.

All joking aside, we do not want those here. They will have no natural enemies and will be invasive, which means competition with native species will cause native species to go hungry and die off while those overgrown horror shows take over the air.

Between them and the freaking red imported fire ants, they will lay waste to two elements of America. All that is left is for something to take over our waterways and we will have no area not taken over by invasive species.

That is the real threat. They will have no natural predators to keep their numbers in check and they will compete for food, nesting sites, and everything else with native species and lay waste to the place.

Look at the freak show Florida's Everglades are now. You think Florida Man is bad? In the glades, you never know whether a monkey will fling shit at you, some overgrown lizard will chase you out of your own yard, a crocodile will ring your doorbell, or a freaking anaconda will eat you whole. You would find yourself wishing Florida Man would show up with a flamethrower.

Imagine all of America being that way.

I never thought I would see those here in America. What assholes brought them in and let them go? That HAD to be it. Either that or they got imported with something else imported here through commerce.

Unless....they didn't fly over here, did they? I sure hope not. Even Stephen King could not dream that possibility up.

Mother Nature sure is pissed off. Can't say I blame her, but we already have Republicans here in America. We don't need any more horrors. That is enough by itself.

what are cow killers?

I googled and the return mentioned ants and wasps.

I've never heard of them.

Almost an inch long. Males fly, but have no sting. Females don't have wings, but they have a nasty sting.

It's really a wasp, but since the females don't fly, folks call it an ant.

Myth is that the sting is so painful it could kill a cow.

openings big enough to allow bees free access but small enough to block the hornets

They were agressive and destructive to our house. A single sing would make you see sparks it hurt so bad. Our pest control guy was afraid of them because they could sting through a single layer suit.

These hornets are about 50% larger.

When they got into the garage and house I found they were attracted to light. So I found the shop vac and a few extra extension nozzles was my best friend. One sting, about 100 captures before the exterminator got there next day. I didn't open the shop vac for 2 months.

I still think Putin installed him. There was evidence of it floating around, but nothing ever got done about it. I still wonder why that was allowed to slide. It makes me think 2020 is going to be the same and nothing will get done about it again.

Yes, 2016 was a hideous year for elections. You are absolutely right. I didn't know how it would happen, but I knew something horrible was coming when that horrid man was put into the White House.

Then they'll kill the giant hornets, and all will be well.

I see no flaws in this plan.
