CBS News poll: Elizabeth Warren tops Democrats' wish list for VP

Economic expertise and crisis management skills are top qualities Democratic voters want to see in a vice-presidential pick for their party — even more so than executive or legislative experience — as concerns about the pandemic and the economy now become a lens through which voters see that selection process.

Those criteria become even more important to Democrats who are very concerned about either their own job losses, or contracting the coronavirus themselves.

Elizabeth Warren is well atop Democratic voters' list of those who should be considered for vice president — with 71% saying she should be — and Warren also outpaces other possible picks by a wide margin as their first choice for the job: Warren at 36% first choice, to Kamala Harris' 19%, Stacey Abrams at 14%, and Amy Klobuchar at 13%. No one else gets over 4%.

Warren is the top pick among white Democrats and liberals by large margins. Warren is among the top picks for black Democrats too, but they are more evenly split between Warren, Abrams and Harris. Warren is also among the top with moderate Democrats, for whom the top three picks are Warren, Klobuchar and Harris.

She presents as a much younger woman, even knowing her age it's impossible to believe she's her age.

Sherrod Brown from Ohio but, since he isn't in the running Sen Warren would be my choice among those being considered.

Not based on her political positions as much as due to VP Biden's age and health history we need a VP who is as qualified as Biden to step in and take over at a moments notice.

I believe Sen Warren is that person

Yes, there will be a special election, but what if Charlie Baker who’s hugely popular here decides to run? The seat is lost, plus she’s over 70 and couldn’t manage to finish better than 3rd in her own state.

I think people are looking for someone with "a plan for that" in these uncertain times (even more than they did a few months ago when the primaries were still being fought).

She also brings the progressive chops that can help unite the party.

Yes, she's not a woman of color, but of the women of color who have been mentioned, only Kamala Harris has what it takes. Stacy Abrams is not ready to step into the presidency the way either Kamala or Elizabeth would be, and given Biden's age and potential infirmity in the next 4 years, that is important. And of the two, I think Elisabeth Warren has better organizational skills.

Finally, Warren's age is not a problem. At 70, she is 7 years younger than Biden, which at that age is a huge difference. Moreover, women generally live longer than men, and she is clearly in excellent shape. So no, she is not too old.

that's my guess. besides their relationship in the obama wh, and her stellar qualifications, he would not be taking her away from an active roll right now.
imho, that time matters. remember how much the franken seating hold up cost us.
time is power. replacing any of the others on the list costs time.

Will she help attract more progressive voters to the ticket? And doesn't she give the GOP an excuse to bring up Benghazi again? Plus she's never run for office before. Will she be a good and effective campaigner?

Elizabeth Warren is the best choice. She has been planning for leadership for years.
So another good Senator will take her place in her state if the voters are wise.
We need her at the TOP!

Under normal circumstances, Stacey Abrams would be in real consideration, and is perhaps being so, but due to Biden's age he needs some someone that can take over as POTUS without missing a step.

So that means a Senator or Governor.

Aside from Harris, Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham is probably on the short list along with Senator Catherine Cortez Masto.

My money is on one of them, with even odds on Harris.

My Dark Horse other than Abrams? Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms.
