Snohomish barber openly defies Washington's stay-home orders

My first thought after seeing this on tonight's news was to start a poll on DU for people to guess how soon this guy catches covid-19.

The barber in this video is 79 years old, very vulnerable to covid-19 as we all know. But he doesn't think covid-19 is a problem. He thinks the governor is a dictator for telling businesses to stay closed and people to stay home.

But then I watched it again and I finally got it. This guy, and the protestors in other states as well as Washington, don't think of covid-19 as a public health matter, they think of it only as a political issue. Trump has strongly politicized the pandemic, and goes on TV to talk about it.

Then NY governor Cuomo goes on TV, Washington governor Inslee does likewise, etc, etc, etc. It isn't doctors who recommend social distancing, it is governors: politicians. No wonder so many people don't take social isolation seriously.

I think this thing could be over sooner if knowledgeble physicians were to be on TV instead of political leaders. More people would take the advice to shelter at home and the pandemic could be over sooner. And people could go back to work sooner.

I saw another report about him where he was wearing that ammo belt around his neck like a necklace. Let's face it, he's just a dick who thinks he should be able to do what he wants. A sad, pathetic little man who needs to posture and say "gonads" as though those things are the gold standard.

Ah, well. He's a nobody. I hope he and everyone in that little shop remain well and don't infect anyone.

He doesn't wear mask or gloves per his own admission. And at his age it could very well be the end of him.

Adam Fortney's announcement that he wouldn't enforce the lockdown.

This old fart is obviously a brainwashed hard-core Trumpster (yes, including the red hat) that does not care about the well-being of his customers. However, there's no excuse for an officer of the law openly defying an emergency state order that's in place to protect ALL the public. Surely that violates his oath of office.

I'm curious if this barber could be placing his barber's license at risk by conducting a very unhealthy business operation.

It's shameful that if he survives, this barber will probably not be held accountable in the public eye for those who contract this disease due to his actions.

He has broad discretion to enforce laws as he sees fit. It is he who is mostly to blame for this barber’s defiance of the law. The best recourse against this Sheriff is to vote him out of office once his term expires.

The orders are issued by the Health Department, and Dr. Acton is on TV every day (along with the rest of the officials in the state dealing with it).

She has been subjected to anti-semitic attacks.

And this ugly scene is from Ohio.

And the noise/threats from the wonderful jerks in Ohio caused Acton/DeWine to back off of the "no shirt, no shoes, no mask, no service" rule they initially announced.

I suspect it was more an acknowlegment of the impossibility of enforcing it and a hope and prayer that if it wasn't mandated at least a handful of the folks refusing would come around to complying once no one insisted they had to.
